Rosario Dawson will be ing the cast of Jane The Virgin season 4 this spring. The actress has reportedly been booked as part of a multi-episode arc on the popular The CW series.

Loosely based on the Venezuelan telenovela Juana la Virgen, Jane The Virgin focuses upon the trials and tribulations of aspiring writer Jane Gloriana Villanueva. Devoutly religious and committed to remaining a virgin until her wedding to her detective boyfriend, Jane is accidentally artificially inseminated during a routine medical check-up.  To complicate matters, the sperm donor is a married man, the owner of the hotel where Jane works and her former teenage crush. The show has been held up as a masterful satire of the usual telenovla format and won critical acclaim as a result.

The news was first reported by Entertainment Weekly. Although Dawson's role has yet to be specified, her appearance has been confirmed for the later half of the season.

First achieving prominence for her portrayal of Ruby in the shocking 1995 film Kids, Dawson would go on to tackle both comic books and controversy in her acting career. She famously played the role of Mimi Marquez in the 2005 film adaptation of the musical Rent. She portrayed Valerie Brown in the 2001 Josie And the Pussycats movie as well as the character of Gail in both of the movies based on Frank Miller's The Defenders.

Thanks to her previous work, Dawson is something of a geek icon - a status that suits her just fine. A lifelong comic reader, Dawson cowrote her own independent comic, Occult Crimes Taskforce, with writer David Atchison in 2006. The series has been optioned for a film adaptation by Dimension Films and the A&E Network has expressed interest in a television series based on the comics, once Dawson's schedule frees up so she can play the lead role of Officer Sophia Ortiz.

Dawson is also an experienced voice actress, having lent her voice to the role of Wonder Woman in three separate The LEGO Batman Movie.
