The VH1 reality competition show fan-favorite drag queens from former seasons compete to be crowned the All-Star. The show is going into its sixth season, and there are no signs of it slowing down.
RuPaul's Drag Race All-Stars has been a mainstay of the Drag Race family of shows for five successful seasons. Recent winners have included Shea Couleé, Monét X Change, Trinity The Tuck, Trixie Mattel, and Alaska. The show is a tour de force that shows the Drag Race franchise's immensely talented fan favorites. In addition to the competition, there are always twists to the format, such as lip-syncing for the challenge win and a cash prize, or voting for who gets to move on to the next round of the show.
Paramount+, ViacomCBS's newly-minted streaming platform, launched on March 4, 2021. ViacomCBS announced that RuPaul's Drag Race All-Stars would move from VH1 to the platform. The move is to get more subscribers, though there is no word on when the new season will debut. There is also a new drag singing competition, Queen of the Universe. The shows are exciting, but there have been controversies linked with Drag Race, such as the need to edit out the catfish Sherry Pie from season 12.
RuPaul's Drag Race has won a bevy of Emmys over the years and continues to be a massive hit for VH1 and ViacomCBS. The new move to the streaming platform should be a relief to fans, as it points to longevity for the beloved competition show. RuPaul's Drag Race will stay on VH1. Its international spin-offs, including UK (with season 2 well underway), Holland, Thailand, Spain, and Australia, will be available on WoW Presents Plus. Paramount+ will be the only platform for watching All-Stars.
That means that fans will have to shell out a few bucks for a subscription to the platform, but it will all be worth it when the new season starts, and Queens of the Universe hits the scene. For now, RuPaul's Drag Race season 13 continues, with its "gag-worthy" stunts and fabulous shenanigans. Since the release date for All-Stars 6 is currently unknown, fans are waiting to subscribe to Paramount+. Until then, viewers can enjoy the first ten seasons of RuPaul's Drag Race on the platform.
RuPaul's Drag Race season 13 airs Fridays at 8pm EST on VH1.
