Ryan Reynolds and Grant Gustin appear together in a new ad that features many references to The Flash season 9's ending marked the final lap for Gustin's version of the hero earlier this year. While Reynolds has played a DC hero as well, the infamous Green Lantern is far from his most popular superhero role, with the Deadpool 3 bringing his Wade Wilson into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

On Twitter, the advertising company MNTN shared a new video that unites Deadpool's Reynolds with The Flash's Gustin in a hilarious way.

The ad sees Gustin play the fictional Seymour Roas, with many references to The Flash. With the end of the Arrowverse and Gustin's Barry not being one of the canon characters of the new DC Universe, the actor's time as The Flash seems to be over for good. Reynolds notes that, saying to Gustin in the ad, "You'll always be my Barry," to which Gustin responds, "You'll always be my Hal," cracking a joke at Reynolds' Green Lantern, Hal Jordan.

Could A Marvel & DC Movie Crossover Ever Happen?

The MCU And The DCU Could Provide It

Reynolds and Gustin teaming up for the new ad is sure to light the fires for a Marvel and DC movie crossover, which fans have already shown interest in. After many years of the MCU running concurrently with the Arrowverse and the DCEU, a Marvel and DC crossover has never looked more possible than now. That is in large part due to who is in charge of the DC Universe, James Gunn.

Gunn's popularity exploded due to his excellent work in the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise at Marvel Studios, with the director now being the creative head of the rebooted DCU. Given his past work experience at the MCU and his friendship with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, Gunn could be the main player that makes a Marvel and DC crossover happen. Besides, Gunn confirmed talks about a Marvel and DC crossover have happened, though he commented that they were "very light and fun," and any possible crossover is still "many years away."

Gunn's DCU will only properly start when Superman: Legacy releases in 2025, with the universe needing time to become a force of its own, which could then lead to the teased crossover with the MCU. With the multiverse becoming more common in superhero movies and shows as the years go by, whenever the DCU is ready, the perfect story setup for the crossover between it and the MCU is ready. That could also include returns from The Flash's Gustin and other Arrowverse characters — who are used to the multiverse — as well as players from past Marvel and DC franchises, making it the biggest crossover in history.
