Developer Volition's latest gameplay video for the Saints Row reimagining that does away with the characters and settings of the past.
The unveiling didn't go as well as the studio may have expected, however. Several months removed from the reveal and Saints Row faithful remain divided on the forthcoming new entry. Many fans resent the look of the young "hipster" characters, believing they won't hold a candle to the gangsters that comprised the original Third Street Saints. Volition refuses to back down, though, its commitment to maintaining this new vision ringing loud and clear. And with the open-world title only four months out from release, now seems as good a time as any to showcase even more of said vision in action.
In conjunction with Saints Row map. Most interesting, however, is footage that shows the player character getting on top of their moving vehicle, presumably operated by an NPC, and firing off shots while prone or on their back. And there's even some dirt bike gameplay thrown in for good measure. Check out all of the above in the video linked below:
The vehicular combat looks over-the-top and boasts just the right amount of chaos. In short, it looks like what we've come to expect from Saints Row, with an added bit of pizazz. Will this be enough to change the minds of naysayers, though? We'll have to wait and see.
Fortunately, the waiting won't go on for too much longer. Though the franchise reclaimed center stage not two full months ago, this new installment is slated for an early 2022 release. Thus, players can take up Saints Row's ridiculous weapons and venture across its vast open world in just a few short months.
Saints Row hits PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S on February 25, 2022.
