The most popular foldable phone is back for 2022 in the form of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4. Samsung offers two main foldable phones but the combination of a unique design and a lower price seems to have resonated with consumers. Now, with the arrival of a newer model, consumers can expect an even better device in an even more rugged body.

Samsung first launched cheaper than the Fold lineup, which immediately positioned it as more of a mainstream option.

The new Galaxy Z Flip 4 is now here and represents more of a refinement process than a revolutionary one. In general, the device comes with the same design as the previous model, albeit with various improvements intended to improve durability. For example, a slimmer hinge that allows the device to be slightly thinner and lighter than previous models. Another positive with the new model is the price. While there had been rumors that the Galaxy Z Flip 4 might cost more than the previous model, something which has become a trend in the post-COVID era, that’s not the case. The Galaxy Z Flip 4 is due to go on sale on August 26th in the US, starting at $999. Until then, the Galaxy Z Flip 4 in Bora Purple, Graphite, Pink Gold, and Blue can be pre-ordered from the Samsung store.

Upgraded Internals And New FlexCam

Galaxy Flip 4 Official

As to be expected with a next-gen device, the Galaxy Z Flip 4 does come with a number of under-the-hood improvements. Possibly the most important is the upgrade from the Snapdragon 888 to with the Galaxy Flip 3. According to Samsung, buyers can expect super-fast charging to result in up to 50% battery in around 30 minutes when charged with a 25W adapter. The Flip 4 also s fast wireless charging (2.0), and Wireless PowerShare. The latter of which allows the power to be shared with another device like a second Galaxy phone or earbuds. While the RAM remains unchanged at 8GB, consumers do now have the option of picking one up with 512GB internal storage, unlike the Flip 3 which maxed out at 256GB.

Besides the internals, Samsung is also advertising a new and improved Flex mode. This is an integral part of the Flip series as it is the tweaked software that makes it possible to really take advantage of the dual-screen design at the app level. As part of the improved experience, the Galaxy Z Flip 4 comes equipped with a new FlexCam mode. Essentially, this is version of Flex mode that's designed specifically for cameras, making it possible to shot video or capture selfies with the phone only partially folded/unfolded. FlexCam mode also works with various social media services as well, including Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. All in all, the new Galaxy Z Flip 4 is not a massive upgrade on the previous model, but it is still an upgrade, and at the same price as the Galaxy Z Flip 3.
