brings new software features. While Samsung has confirmed that the update will be available for older models, there is a possibility not all features will be available due to hardware constraints.
Samsung's Pause USB Power Delivery is a feature designed for gaming. When activated, the phone pauses charging and draws power directly from the charger. This prevents overheating caused by a heavy gaming session and charging at the same time. It also results in better performance as, since there's no overheating, the processor doesn't throttle performance. Another advantage it brings is better battery health, as there is no stress on the battery since it isn't charging during gaming.
How To Turn On 'Pause USB Power Delivery'
The Pause USB Power Delivery feature isn't unheard of — some manufacturers have offered it for years. ASUS calls it 'By Charging,' and has offered it on its ROG Phone series since 2020. It also offers a slightly different version called 'Charging Limit' on its Zenfone line. Unlike By Charging, Charging Limit lets s set a battery level during charging, when the phone reaches that percentage, the phone draws power directly from the charger.
For Samsung's Pause USB Power Delivery feature to work, s must have the phone connected to a USB charger. Also, the phone's battery level must be above 20 percent. To turn on Pause USB Power Delivery, launch the Game Booster, or install it from the Galaxy Store if it isn't already installed. When it launches, open the settings menu and toggle the switch in front of Pause USB Power Delivery.
While the feature is available on the Galaxy S23 series, the Galaxy A33 5G and the Galaxy Tab S8. This would suggest the feature is not exclusive to the Galaxy S23 and Samsung is rolling out the feature to more devices. Also, it will be nice to see Samsung make this a feature that is not just limited to gaming. The feature can also come in handy when using wireless DeX or when recording on the Galaxy S23 for a long period of time.
