In a new interview with ladbible, Santa Clarita Diet creator Victor Fresco expressed his interest in returning to work on the series. When asked if he would return for season 4 on Netflix, Fresco stated, "That's something I think we all would want to do if everyone was available. Emotionally, everyone on the show would love to do some kind of closure." He goes on to say, "We thought it would be fun to do a season with Joel and Sheila in the same boat - what that would look like. I feel like this would be better for us and better for our fans too." Fresco also revealed that, in addition to exploring Joel and Sheila's new dynamic, it would also delve further into Abby and Eric's relationship.

Due to Netflix's cancellation of the beloved series, fans have been left with many lingering questions that remain unanswered. While Netflix hasn't turned any gears to make a season 4 happen as of now, fans haven't remained quiet about their dissatisfaction with the series' cancellation. Following Netflix's decision, several petitions were created, pleading Netflix to reverse their decision and make a season 4 of the show.

Santa Clarita Diet breathed new life into the zombie genre, subverting zombie stereotypes and delivering a dark comedy with an edge, sporting two beautiful performances from Barrymore and Olyphant that only got better with each subsequent season. After the series' season 3 cliffhanger, the storytelling possibilities were endless, making Netflix's decision all the more disappointing. It's comforting to hear that Fresco also believes fans didn't get the resolution they deserved and that he is game to return for a season 4, should it ever come to fruition. While fans continue to wait and see if Netflix will give them what they want, they can revisit all three fantastic seasons of Santa Clarita Diet on the streaming service in the meantime.
