Summary

  • Throughout Naruto, Sasuke's fights exhibit his fierce technical mastery and intellect, resulting in irreversible plot turns.
  • Sasuke showcases deadly skills and genetic gifts in some of the best fights in the Naruto franchise.
  • Sasuke's battles against formidable foes like Killer Bee and Itachi are pivotal and electrifying.

Sasuke Uchiha is the quintessential, genius-level ninja in the Naruto franchise, so he unsurprisingly gets some of the best fights. Sasuke's battles often combine fierce technical mastery and deadly feats of intellect against foes who vastly outrank him. However, Sasuke gets into several fights in Naruto that spur the plot's events to numerous irreversible turns, unsurprisingly among the franchise's best.

Sasuke Uchiha hails from Konoha's famed Uchiha clan, and his story is steeped in tragedy after most of his family is massacred before the main plot commences. He's also one of Naruto's most competent, adaptable shinobi with many deadly skills and genetic gifts like the Sharingan eye.

Promotional visual of Boruto anime shows a adult sasuke colored in black and white and gray except for his red sharingan eye. He is holding up a sword with his one arm.

Sasuke's best fights spectacularly showcase these talents, with the anime of Naruto, Naruto Shippuden, and Boruto including some absolute highlights of the series.

10 Sasuke and Taka vs. Killer Bee

A Clash With a Jinchuriki Tests Taka's Teamwork

In Killer Bee's case, Naruto Shippuden introduces far more of the Great Shinobi Countries than in the first part of the story, namely Kumogakure. With his prodigious talents and stubborn commitment to moving at the beat of his drum, Killer Bee's fight is unsurprisingly one of the most electrifying Sasuke fights in the Naruto franchise. This is especially true given the two characters' affinity for lightning jutsu.

With his prodigious talents and stubborn commitment to moving at the beat of his drum, Killer Bee's fight is unsurprisingly one of the most electrifying Sasuke fights in the Naruto franchise.

The fight is sufficiently explosive, with Sasuke's swordsmanship on full display against Killer Bee's powerful Acrobat kenjutsu. However, Sasuke brings tricks of his own, fresh off of a deadly encounter with his brother Itachi, and is ordered by the Akatsuki to capture Killer Bee to extract Gyūki, the Eight-Tailed Beast. With his newly empowered Sharingan Eyes, Sasuke brings the heat in more ways than one with his deadly Amaterasu in Naruto Shippuden. With Sasuke's team, the newly-renamed Taka, or "Hawk", this fight also shows Sasuke protecting his allies, even if it's from his attacks.

9 Sasuke and Itachi vs. Kabuto

The Abominable Sage Fights Two Reconciling Brothers

Kabuto Yakushi has been around in Naruto since the Chunin Exams Arc, with readers and viewers never guessing how far he'd go as a critical player in the series, so his fight with Sasuke and Itachi is one to behold. The former Orochimaru underling, at this point, has sured his master and become a key player in the most significant conflict in the series. Naturally, with his especially crucial position in the Fourth Great Ninja War, his fight with Sasuke is one of the most pivotal in the franchise.

While compelling for its action, the fight is also an opportunity for fans to see Sasuke interact with his reanimated brother. Sasuke better understands the burden Itachi had at this point in the series, and the fact that they get to double up the Susano'o action is fascinating. However, Kabuto's incredible combat prowess and the fruits of his knowledge gained from Orochimaru's experiments are a body horror spectacle, with terrifying transformations and grotesque pseudo-cameos in the characters he manifests in his serpentine form.

8 Sasuke vs. Deidara

An Unleashed Uchiha Tests Out His Sharingan Power-Up

Sasuke's fights in Naruto Shippuden are rendered with a vastly different tone than most of Naruto's, as Sasuke is often shown as the deadly upstart instead of the plucky underdog. Fresh off of fighting Orochimaru, Sasuke is especially empowered thanks to powerful Sharingan genjutsu. Deidara has been a slippery foe in previous arcs, with his artistic skills unimpeded despite critical injuries to both of his arms from Gaara and Kakashi, but this is his definitive fight.

A tactically gifted fighter who is prey to his vanity, Deidara's explosive clay creations are the basis of his "art" in the face of what he believes to be Sasuke's crude tricks, particularly his Sharingan. Despite having the aerial advantage over the Uchiha shinobi, Deidara continuously underestimates Sasuke, resulting in numerous costly mistakes. Sasuke uses his Chidori technique to level the playing field. The fight ends with a bang, but perhaps not one either of them expected.

7 Sasuke vs. Orochimaru

Where the Greatest Wound Inflicted In This Fight is Orochimaru's Pride

Sasuke earns massive points in this Naruto fight, not even just for how he lashes out against his master, but for how he disrespects him. The contempt in Sasuke's heart for Orochimaru feels reminiscent of Kendrick Lamar's hate for Drake, with Sasuke dropping harsh truths on the classic Naruto antihero. Sasuke says it best himself, rendered excellently in episode #113:

"The way you fill yourself up with medicines and go leaping from body to body, it's disgusting. As an Uchiha, all I see when I look at you is a miserable wretch. And on top of that, I don't like your style."

-Sasuke Uchiha to Orochimaru

This quote is lifted from the English dub, which surprisingly does a better job of communicating how Sasuke feels now. His fight with Orochimaru is lop-sided for sure, although Orochimaru debuts some sickeningly fitting snake-themed transformations to help even the odds. It's a crucial fight for Sasuke to seize his sense of agency and power in the world of Naruto, but more than anything else, it's just fantastic to tell Orochimaru he can't keep up with him anymore.

6 Sasuke vs. Naruto (Pre-Time Skip)

Sasuke's Greatest Portrayal and the Catalyst For Naruto Shippuden's Plot

Naruto and Sasuke's rivalry is among the most storied of the series, especially with their positions as protagonist and deuteragonist, so they are bound to have pulse-pounding battles. Sasuke is an exceedingly talented shinobi whose fateful encounter with Orochimaru at the Chunin Exams at this point grants him the key to unlocking his abilities. However, pursuing this would be to abandon Konoha and become a traitor, which Naruto is not about to allow.

This fight takes place in The Valley of the End. On this recurring site, generations of shinobi have settled their scores, famously epitomized by the two statues of Hashirama Senju and Madara Uchiha. It's not the first canonical clash here, and certainly not the last.

The resulting fight is hard to watch, with Naruto's painful realization that Sasuke is prepared to kill his teammate and friend to achieve these ends. It's also a great showcase of the pair's developing unique abilities, with Sasuke giving in to his Cursed Seal and Naruto unleashing the power of the Nine-Tailed Fox. The especially troubling moment comes following the climax of this fight in episode #134 from the anime, or chapter #235 of the manga, with Sasuke getting what he wants.

5 Sasuke vs. Danzō

All Eyes Are on Sasuke While Technically Also on Danzō

Danzō's position as the one-time leader of Konoha is incredibly muddy, given that he was technically Hokage in Naruto, even though he never gets to ascend to the title correctly. After the Five Kage Summit ends with the Akatsuki's formal declaration of war, Danzō is attacked by an enraged Sasuke, seen as a critical loose end to cut while avenging his family. After all, it was Danzō who ordered Itachi to massacre the Uchiha.

The fight is sensational and shows Sasuke's brutal side more clearly than ever. Danzō's monstrous ten Sharingan eyes grafted onto his arm give the Root leader a peculiar edge in battle and shed light on his cooperation with Orochimaru to achieve such ends. It's a shame because Danzō's backstory is fascinating, especially with a connection to Tobirama Senju in the First Great Ninja War. However, Danzō mistakes his ruthlessness as an advantage against Sasuke in taking Karin as a human shield; Sasuke's viciousness trumps even that move to a terrifying extent.

4 Sasuke vs. Naruto (Shippuden Finale)

Risking Lives in the War Isn't Enough as the Rivals Risk Limbs in This Grudge Match

At this point in the series, Naruto and Sasuke have cooperated against common enemies and had their fights. But the finale of the original Naruto story is one of Sasuke's most significant fights, both in gravitas and in pure, satisfying action. The score is settled in this battle, and while it signals the end of an era positively, it doesn't happen without a price.

Sasuke's final battle with Naruto culminates their collective feats as growing ninjas, as they've undeniably sured all their respective masters. They both also have the Sage of Six Paths' gifts imparted upon them, and this battle is a showcase of their greatest hits, a swirling tornado of taijutsu, doppelgängers, Susano'o, and Kurama. The two rivals are so powerful that their clash has devastating consequences when Naruto reconciles with Sasuke, who was thought to be long-lost, leaving a permanent battle scar neither of them can forget.

3 Sasuke and Naruto vs. Momoshiki (Boruto: Naruto Next Generations)

Teamwork Makes the Dream Work

It's heartwarming to see Naruto and Sasuke collaborate in battles together, and, by Boruto, the two have long since buried the hatchet. This battle is one of the coolest in the sequel series for fans of the original iconic ninjas, who demonstrate that their abilities are sufficient even if the rest of Naruto Next Generations is spent nerfing Kishimoto's characters. The battle against a deadly Otsutsuki clan member is beautifully animated, with excellent callbacks to the original series.

This battle is one of the coolest in the sequel series for fans of the original iconic ninjas, who demonstrate that their abilities are sufficient even if the rest of Naruto Next Generations is spent nerfing Kishimoto's characters.

Part of the Boruto manga's first story arc, Sasuke s Naruto to fight Momoshiki and ward off the Otsutsuki invasion in a spectacular cooperative effort against a deadly foe. Some extraordinary moments include Sasuke coating Naruto's Kurama form in Susano'o's armor and a throwback to the Land of Waves Arc with Naruto masquerading as a shuriken for a surprise attack. After all, Boruto artist Mikio Ikemoto originally designed Zabuza and Haku. Finally, the magnificent finale of the fight with Boruto's help makes a solid first impression for readers within the first ten chapters.

2 Sasuke and Everyone vs. Madara Uchiha

Getting the Band Together Again

In one of the most consequential battles of the final big arc of Naruto, Sasuke s Naruto and Sakura against a common enemy in Madara Uchiha. Along with Naruto and Sasuke powering up to more deadly forms than at any prior point in the series, it's a team reunion fans were desperate to see happen. Finally, seeing Kakashi so pleased with how much each member has grown is a special highlight.

As for the battle itself, it starts in earnest with Naruto's blended Six Paths Sage Mode and Tailed Beast Chakra Mode and Sasuke's Sharingan and Rinnegan powers in full force. While Sakura is sidelined at first, dealing with the difficult task of trying to destroy Obito's Rinnegan eye, she also s the fray, along with several key shinobi allies. It's a shame that the series threw one more surprise enemy in the mix after this incredible fight because the follow-up with Kaguya was proportionately disappointing.

1 Sasuke vs. Itachi

There Could Be No Other Top Choice

For much of the series going into Naruto Shippuden, Sasuke's driving ambition was to avenge his massacred family and kill the one responsible for their deaths. Sasuke's battle with Itachi is teased as early as chapter #4 of the original Naruto manga, but the moment the truth arrives in the Fated Battle Between Brothers Arc. As the two finally trade blows in a proper confrontation, only one fighter may emerge alive.

Sasuke's battle with Itachi is teased as early as chapter #4 of the original Naruto manga, but the moment the truth arrives in the Fated Battle Between Brothers Arc.

Itachi, the Uchiha's most vigorous scion, is in one corner and an elite former Anbu ninja-turned-Akatsuki. In the other corner, there's Sasuke, powered by rage, a desire to avenge his family, and an increasingly expansive repertoire of Sharingan eye jutsu and training from multiple masters. Despite Itachi having much more experience, terrifying moves like Amaterasu, and his signature deadly genjutsu, he will eventually lose the use of his eyes and must take Sasuke's by force. However, the final moments of the battle are a massive watershed for Uchiha clan lore, drastically impacting the future of Sasuke's vengeance quest in Naruto.
