Will Saved by the Bell season 2 and if so, when will it release, and what will it be about? Developed for NBCUniversal's streaming service by Tracey Wigfield, the 2020 reboot includes original cast from the iconic series of the same name. Saved by the Bell season 1 released in November 2020, and features an updated theme song by Lil Yachty.

Like the original Saved by the Bell series, the first season of the revival follows students at Bayside High in Los Angeles, California. Zach Morris (Mark-Paul Gosselaar) is now the Governor of California, and the de-funding of various schools means that teenagers from Douglas High have been moved to Bayside. The narrative conflict stems from the overprivileged demeanors of students like Mac Morris (Mitchell Hoog) and Lexi Haddad-DeFabrizio (Josie Totah), and how they interact with incoming Douglas youths such as Daisy Jiménez (Haskiri Velazquez), Aisha Garcia (Alycia Pascual-Peña), and Devante Young (Dexter Darden). The main cast for Saved by the Bell season 1 includes the original performers Mario Lopez and Elizabeth Berkley Lauren as A.C. Slater and Jessie Spano, respectively.

In the penultimate episode of Saved by the Bell season 1, Mac and Lexi learn about empathy while Aisha shuts down a marriage proposal from Jamie Spano (Belmont Cameli). When Douglas High receives funding and gets renovated, many Bayside students realize they want to stick together, resulting in a comedically poignant season finale. Here's everything we expect for Saved by the Bell season 2 on Peacock.

Saved By The Bell Season 2 Renewal

Saved by the Bell season 2 hasn't yet officially been ordered by NBCUniversal. Based on how various streaming services operate with renewals and cancellations, an announcement will seemingly be made approximately six to eight weeks after the November 25 release. Given that the reboot has been well-received, though, NBCUniversal may possibly greenlight Saved by the Bell season 2 before the end of 2020.

Assuming that NBCUniversal orders Saved by the Bell Season 2, a batch of 10 new episodes will likely be produced during the first half of 2021. If the series isn't once again halted by COVID-19, the second installment will presumably release during the second half of 2021. NBCUniversal may move up the release date for Saved by the Bell season 2, however, it makes sense to predict that new episodes will once again premiere in late November.

Saved By The Bell Season 2 Story Details

Haskiri Velazquez in Saved by the Bell on Peacock

The Saved by the Bell season 1 finale centers on a Bayside High student walkout, organized by Daisy. She ultimately convinces Governor Morris to put a freeze on new school openings and closures, which means that the Douglas students can stay put. Meanwhile, A.C. apologizes to Jesse for making misogynistic statements to her in high school, and Jamie shares a kiss with Lexi - just when Ayesha is ready to rekindle a romance. Saved by the Bell season 1 ends with Mac learning about the Coronavirus, a sign that Bayside's return to normalcy will be rather short.

For Saved by the Bell season 2, it's unclear how Wigfield will approach the storyline. The series may include lockdown sequences, but it's most likely that the narrative will once again take place at Bayside High and be full of references to COVID-19 culture. Whatever the case, Saved by the Bell season 2 on Peacock will further reinforce how much has changed since the original series aired from 1989 to 1993.
