The chances of the the MCU timeline who has garnered a major following over the last few years is Elizabeth Olsen's Scarlet Witch. Ever since Wanda's death in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, the MCU fandom has been actively hoping to hear Marvel Studios reveal that Olsen will reprise the role in one way or another.

In a new interview with Variety, Jac Schaeffer, who is the showrunner of WandaVision and the spinoff series Agatha All Along, was asked jokingly when they will start shooting the Scarlet Witch movie. While not confirming that a solo film is in the works, Schaeffer stressed her love for the character and her hopes of Wanda getting her own standalone film, stating the following:

[Laughs] I am just here hoping for a Scarlet Witch movie! We all want Wanda, so fingers crossed that's a thing that happens.

What The WandaVision Creator's Comments About A Scarlet Witch Movie Mean For The MCU

Jac Schaeffer being asked the solo movie question was likely in reference to the selection of rumors that float around when it comes to a possible Scarlet Witch film. However, as of right now, Schaeffer doesn't seem to be involved with a Scarlet Witch solo movie, but is hoping to see it happen as much as fans do on a regular basis. While these comments make it clear a Scarlet Witch movie is not in the works right now, Schaeffer's comments are incredibly optimistic.

It is clearly not lost on Schaeffer that Wanda is one of the most popular characters in the entire MCU, and it's always possible that she knows more than she is able to share at the moment. Given how Marvel Studios is always quietly developing new projects, there is always the chance that a Scarlet Witch movie is in the works in some capacity, or that talks are happening about whether it could come to fruition. That said, these talks likely depend on whether Scarlet Witch will be returning to the main MCU timeline or not after her seeming death in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Our Take On The Chances Of An MCU Scarlet Witch Movie Being Made

Scarlet Witch saying goodbye in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

Olsen has expressed interest in returning as Scarlet Witch, and the Agatha All Along and Vision shows are perfectly primed to at the least tease the possibility of her return going forward. Scarlet Witch is arguably too popular to keep on the side, and the Multiverse Saga holds a lot of ways she could be brought back, especially if the theories that the MCU will reboot at the end of the Saga come true. Hopefully, Olsen will be back as Scarlet Witch sooner rather than later in the MCU, whether it be later in Phase 5 or later.
