A major aspect of the first season is that School Spirits' rules of the afterlife, and season 2 has already expanded on that. Following Xavier's (Spencer Maherson) near-death experience in School Spirits' season 1 finale, his supernatural experiences at the beginning of season 2 prove that the ghost world goes far beyond the high school setting.

The New Reveal Expands School Spirits Season 1's Premise
In the School Spirits season 1 finale, Xavier is hit by a car driven by Janet (Jess Gabor), who is possessing Maddie's body. Season 2 opens with the revelation that Xavier is in the hospital and, for a brief moment, he crosses over to the other side. During this time, Xavier is able to see ghosts in the hospital, finally confirming that ghosts do exist in other places in the School Spirits universe. What's more, the near-death experience left Xavier convinced of what only Simon had truly believed before.

While it makes sense that ghosts would exist in other places, School Spirits' scope remained fairly narrow during its first season. This was the perfect move because it allowed the series to focus on the main characters only in one location so as to not complicate the narrative unnecessarily. However, now that the show is in its sophomore season, the reveal of other ghosts comes at the perfect time as it expands the possibilities of the School Spirits world, and it serves to open Xavier up to further explanations for Maddie's disappearance.
Why Didn't Xavier Tell All His Friends About Seeing The Hospital Ghosts?
Xavier May Not Have Been Ready To Explain What Happened
While Xavier's experience at the hospital confirms for him that ghosts do exist, he opts not to tell anyone about what he saw. Given how shocking briefly existing in the afterlife must be, this decision is not altogether surprising. Importantly, though, his time at the hospital has likely massively changed his outlook going forward. The initial episodes of School Spirits season 2 have already seen Xavier get on board with Simon's ideas about Janet and Maddie, and the two have been working together a lot more.
Though Xavier has not outwardly mentioned what happened during his near-death experience, his growing teamwork with Simon and online communication with Nicole show that he is beginning to open up.
Beyond his of Simon, Xavier is also exploring what happened to him through online message boards about the paranormal, where he unknowingly talks with Nicole (Kiara Pichardo). Though Xavier has not outwardly mentioned what happened during his near-death experience, his growing teamwork with Simon and online communication with Nicole show that he is beginning to open up. In the remainder of School Spirits season 2, it will be exciting to see how Xavier's arc and the reveal of other ghosts impact Maddie's quest to get her body back.
