Which characters will be among the body count in Scream 6? Along with the obligatory new cast , there are a half-dozen returning characters in the film, which is the most significant ratio since Scream 2 brought back five characters. Unfortunately, with such a large ensemble, it is evident that not everyone will make it to the final act.
Several factors can be used to guess how long a character is expected to last in Scream 6. This includes longevity in the franchise, positioning on the posters, and prominence in the trailers. Using this data, here is a list of all fourteen central characters in Scream 6, ranked by their chance of survival.
14 Samara Weaving As TBA
Despite Samara Weaving having a prominent position on the final poster for Scream 6, behind only the four central leads, this is likely a misleading marketing tactic similar to Drew Barrymore's appearance on the original Scream poster. Like Barrymore, the common belief right now is that the Ready or Not star will play the opening scene victim role in Scream 6. This is further ed by the fact that Samara Weaving is only briefly seen in the new trailer and doesn't currently have a character name listed on IMDB.
13 Henry Czerny As Professor Freddie
Not present at all in the marketing is Samara Weaving's Ready or Not co-star Henry Czerny, who is listed as playing a character named Professor Freddie. Like Weaving, Czerny likely appears in Scream 6 as a favor to the directors, Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett. It is most likely that Czerny will have a featured ing role like Henry Winkler in Scream or Lance Henriksen in Scream 3, and like those two, he will likely become a Ghostface victim.
12 Liana Liberato As Carly
Liana Liberato is best known for her roles in the 2019 body-horror film The Beach House and the 2022 thriller Dig. In the new trailer, her character of Carly is only seen once waking up in bed at the arrival of Ghostface. This, along with the fact that she has small positioning in the corner of the poster, all but signifies that she is a guaranteed victim in the film.
11 Devyn Nekoda As Alison
Devyn Nekoda (Ginny & Georgia) appears just after Liana Leberato in the trailer. However, her chances of surviving this scene are slightly better because she is shown with returning characters Mindy Meeks-Martin (Jasmin Savoy Brown) and Sam Carpenter (Melissa Barrera). However, Nekoda's Alison is the smallest character to appear on the poster, so she likely won't last longer than the film's first half.
10 Tony Revolori As Gabe
Known for his roles in The Grand Budapest Hotel, the MCU Spider-Man films, and the Disney+ Willow series, Tony Revolori is probably one of the more recognizable new faces to appear in Scream 6. Theoretically, this should allow his character of Gabe to last a while. However, he is only seen once in the trailer alone and on the phone, so it is more likely that Tony Revolori will have a role similar to Kyle Gallner in 2022's Scream, as a face people would recognize, yet still doesn't last long in the film.
9 Courtney Cox As Gale Weathers
Despite being the last remaining legacy character, all the signs indicate that Scream 6 will be the film where Gale Weathers meets her maker. As one of the four most prominent protagonists featured on the poster, Gale Weathers will likely make it through the film's first two acts. After that, however, like Dewey's death in 2022's Scream, she will probably die to set up the climax.
8 Dermot Mulroney As Williams
Dermot Mulroney's character of Williams seems to be a police detective playing a similar role in Scream 6 to that of Mark Kincaid (Patrick Dempsey) in Scream 3. The trailer makes it apparent that Williams plays a role in uncovering the Ghostface shrine. However, unlike Kincaid, the trailer also hints that Williams will become a victim of Ghostface.
7 Jack Champion As Evan
A group shot in the Scream 6 trailer hints at the characters who will still be alive in the film's third act. One of these is Jack Champion, currently best known for playing the most disliked character in Avatar: The Way of Water. Unfortunately, Champion's character of Evan seems to be the nice guy in the group, which probably makes his chances of making it out of the third act slim.
6 Josh Segarra As David
Arrow star Josh Segarra plays David, likely the new romantic interest for Melissa Barrera's Sam. He is present in the subway sequence that has been prominent in the marketing and now looks to be part of the third act, given how the characters are dressed the same way as in the previous group shot. If Sam doesn't end up being one of the people under the Ghostface mask, more on that later, David would be a likely candidate, as predictable as that may be.
5 Mason Gooding As Chad Meeks-Martin
As one of the four primary survivors of 2022's Scream, Mason Gooding will likely make it through most of Scream 6. However, his character of Chad Meeks-Martin is also the least likely of the bunch to survive to the end. Despite hints to the contrary, Chad's twin sister Mindy is more likely to make it past the climax.
