Scream 5, which acted as a soft reboot of the series, bringing back old characters while also introducing new ones that will be the main focus of the sequel. There are a ton of possibilities as to who could be Ghostface, with 13 characters confirmed to appear in Scream 6, and all of them are suspects.

Scream 6 will change its setting, replacing the town of Woodsboro, California with New York City. As the Scream 6 trailers and marketing materials have shown, there will be tons of new Ghostface killers this time around, with the main cast discovering a shrine to Ghostface that is full of replicas of the killer's iconic costume. There are theories about Stu Macher appearing in Scream 6, but with so many new and returning characters already confirmed to appear, there are already plenty of options as to who could be Scream 6's Ghostface killer. Here's every Scream 6 Ghostface candidate ranked from least likely to most likely.

13 Dr. Christopher Stone

Kitteidge in Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part 1

The least likely Ghostface killer out of Scream 6's confirmed cast is Dr. Christopher Stone, played by Henry Czerny. Dr. Christopher Stone hasn't actually been shown in Scream 6's marketing yet, but it seems that he will be playing a role similar to Principal Himbry in the original Ready or Not, which was made by the same directors, and since Czerny was in that, this may just be a cameo.

12 Gale Weathers

Scream 6 Courteney Cox as Gale Weathers

Gale Weathers (played by Courtney Cox) will be returning in Scream 6, with the classic character having appeared in every Scream movie. Due to the character's popularity and long-lasting legacy in the Scream franchise, it seems incredibly unlikely that she would be the Ghostface killer. While it would be a surprising twist, it would be hard to justify it from a story perspective. On top of that, the sudden change to Gale's character would probably upset fans. The Scream series probably needs to avoid mes Gale as she's now the only legacy character with Sidney Prescott not returning for Scream 6. The chances of Gale being Ghostface are slim at best.

11 Detective Bailey

Dermot Mulroney surrounded by Ghostface cloaks in Scream 6

Dermot Mulroney's Detective Bailey will also debut in Scream 6, but he's probably not Ghostface either. Bailey is around when the main cast discovers the shrine to Ghostface in the Scream 6 trailer, and Mulroney has already revealed that Ghostface killed his daughter in the film. Bailey is a little more likely due to his build matching Ghostface's in Scream 6. On top of that Ghostface uses a shotgun in Scream 6, and as a detective, Bailey probably has the skills to handle it. However, it doesn't seem like Detective Bailey has any motive, which mostly rules him out as being Ghostface in Scream 6.

10 Quinn Bailey

Liana Liberato looks confused in Scream 6

Quinn Bailey is another new Scream 6 character, with the college-aged girl being played by Liana Liberato. Quinn seems like she'll probably be one of Scream 6's major deaths, with her only appearance in the trailer showing her waking up as Ghostface enters her room. While her friends escape, Quinn is never seen leaving. Quinn's small amount of screen time in the trailers could mean there's room to develop her into one of Ghostface's true identities, or her death could be a fakeout. However, Quinn's role in Scream 6 will probably not be much more than a gory death.

9 Anika

Devyn Nekoda in Scream 6 Trailer

Alongside Quinn, Anika (played by Devyn Nekoda) is another character that will be introduced in Scream 6 as part of Tara's college friend group. Anika does appear several times throughout the trailer, meaning that she could end up being Ghostface. However, there is an equal lack of evidence for and against Anika being Ghostface. Anika isn't incredibly present in Scream 6's posters and trailers, and it would be odd for such a minor character to turn out to be Ghostface. Because of this, it doesn't seem all that likely.

8 Tara Carpenter

Tara Carpenter

Jenna Ortega's Tara Carpenter is the main character for Scream 5 and Scream 6. While she will undoubtedly have a massive role in the sequel, there is little reason to believe that she is Ghostface so far. Tara has taken over as the Scream franchise's final girl, so having her become Ghostface would be like having Sidney Prescott become Ghostface. Ortega's career has grown immensely since Scream 5, which does mean there's room for her to be Ghostface and get killed off in order to focus on things like Ortega's role in Wednesday, but there's not much evidence to this.

7 Samara Weaving's Laura Crane

Samara Weaving talking on the phone in Scream 6

Samara Weaving, another cast member from Ready or Not, will be playing Laura Crane in Scream 6. The mystery surrounding Weaving's character makes her suspicious, as it's hard to get a read on her without any story details. Samara Weaving is on the Scream 6 poster, meaning that she could play a significant role in the story. However, much like Drew Barrymore on the original Scream poster, Weaving's billing could just be due to her being Scream 6's opening kill. It's entirely possible that she could be Ghostface, but there isn't anything in the trailer that hints at it.

6 Ethan

Jack Champion in Scream 6 Trailer

Jack Champion will be playing Ethan in Scream 6, with the Scream 6's New York City setting means that Ethan is probably just another student from Blackmore, but any new character in the Scream franchise is an immediate red flag. Ethan doesn't have an obvious death scene, and he seems taller than the rest of his friends, making him closer to the build of Ghostface. On top of that, Ghostface killers tend to be part of the main character's friend group, and Ethan fits into that trend.

5 The Meeks Twins

scream, meeks-martin

Jasmin Savoy Brown and Mason Gooding are returning in Scream 6 as the Meeks twins, having first appeared in Scream 5. Both characters have survived Ghostface attacks in the past, causing some to theorize that they've had an influence on the Ghostface killers the whole time. Since there seem to be multiple versions of Ghostface in Scream 6, a pair of twins would lend themselves well to the role. On top of that, the Meeks twins aren't all that beloved despite their status as returning characters, meaning that they could be big enough to make the Ghostface identity twist powerful without upsetting fans.

4 Danny

Easter Egg for The Babadook in the Teaser for Scream VI

Josh Segarra is playing another new character in Scream 6 named Danny. Danny seems to be a friend of Sam Carpenter, being a bit older than Tara and the rest of the main cast. He's bigger and seems more athletic, meaning that he would be able to pull off the physically demanding tasks Ghostface performs in the trailer, such as silently tackling someone. Danny being the killer is one of the most popular theories regarding the identity of the violent shotgun-wielding Ghostface killer in Scream 6, and it's hard to deny that he's suspicious.
