"I totally respect her opinion. I know exactly where she's coming from, I know her well. I love and adore her and that's what she did. It's right for her. I love everyone involved in Scream and all I can say is, pay her the money. That's what I would do, I would give her the money. I'm sure there's a number they can agree on that will make them both happy so hopefully one day they will figure that all out.”

Will Sydney Prescott Be In Scream 7?

Scream 5 Neve Campbell Courteney Cox

Scream 6 was a critical and commercial success, so it's no surprise that another sequel is moving forward. While Tyler Gillet and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin directed the 2022 reboot and the latest installment, the directing duo have turned their focus to a Universal Monster movie as their next project. Christopher Landon will instead take on directing duties for Scream 7, with the filmmaker best known for Happy Death Day and Freaky.

It's unclear how Landon will attempt to shake up the franchise, but Scream 7 may be the perfect opportunity to bring Campbell back. The latest sequel makes clear that Sidney is still very much alive in the world of the franchise, with Courteney Cox's Gale Weathers revealing that she skipped town with her family upon hearing of Ghostface's return. Campbell herself has also made clear that her decision to not return was purely a business decision, meaning it's likely she would reprise her role if a salary can be agreed upon.

Despite the pay dispute, it's clear that there's still a great deal of respect for Sidney from key creative talent involved in the franchise. Both Jenna Ortega and Melissa Barrera, for example, have commended Campbell's profound impact on the franchise, with the latter star calling the decision to reject the salary offer "brave". It remains to be seen whether Campbell will return for Scream 7, but money does truly seem like the only obstacle at this point.
