Secret Invasion could tease two new Marvel Cinematic Universe heroes thanks to Olivia Colman's character. The Disney+ spinoff show for Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury and Ben Mendelsohn's Talos is bringing back plenty of characters the audiences have already met. However, Olivia Colman represents one of the actors ing the MCU through Secret Invasion. She's confirmed to play agent Sonya Falsworth - an old ally of Nick Fury's, while Kingsley Ben-Adir plays a Skrull leader and Emilia Clarke is rumored to be Abigail Brand.
As an adaptation of the famous Marvel comic crossover event, Secret Invasion is going to play a major role in setting up the MCU's future. This includes the confirmation that the series directly ties to The Marvels and sets up Armor Wars. Like many other MCU Disney+ shows, this should also include introducing and teasing future MCU heroes. Emilia Clarke's Abigail Brand would be one example of this goal. Olivia Colman's Sonya Falsworth could also be important, as she can help set up two new heroes heading into MCU Phase 5.
Secret Invasion Could Set Up The MCU’s Union Jack & Spitfire
The reveal that Olivia Colman's Secret Invasion character is Sonya Falsworth helps tease Union Jack and Spitfire as new MCU heroes. The Falsworth name already has a legacy in the MCU thanks to James Montgomery Falsworth being part of Captain America's Howling Commandos, but Sonya's introduction allows the legacy to continue. There is no character named Sonya Falsworth in the comics, but Union Jack and Spitfire are both heroes who have the famous last name thanks to being James' children. To bring them both into the MCU's present, Sonya could be a descendant of James' and be the mother of Union Jack and Spitfire.
Another option for Union Jack and Spitfire to factor into Secret Invasion is for Olivia Colman's Sonya to have previously acted as a hero with either mantle. The confirmation that she is involved in a secret intelligence agency could mean that she suited up as Union Jack back in the day. The revelation that she used to be Spitfire could be a bit more important, as it would mean she has super-speed. Either of these reveals could help explain how Sonya Falsworth came to know Nick Fury in the past, while also allowing the mantles to continue on in Phase 5 with the introduction of Joseph Chapman or Jacqueline Falsworth.
How Union Jack & Spitfire Can Change MCU Phase 5
Introducing Union Jack and Spitfire as new MCU heroes through Secret Invasion could enable both heroes to factor into other projects. Since Secret Invasion and The Marvels' connection is already confirmed, the characters could pop up there, even if that is not the best fit for either. Captain America: New World Order could see Sonya return and bring a new Union Jack or Spitfire with her. This would allow either to team up with Sam Wilson's Captain America, continue the movie's plans to introduce some international heroes, and potentially make Union Jack and Spitfire considerations to Phase 6's new Avengers team.
Thanks to Olivia Colman's Secret Invasion character, Union Jack and Spitfire's debuts in Phase 5 could be part of the MCU's plans to assemble the Invaders or MI-13. However, Spitfire's introduction specifically could connect to Blade, as Jacqueline has vampiric ties in the comics and has repeatedly fought with and against Eric Brooks. This would be another opportunity then for the MCU to continue setting up vampires ahead of Mahershala Ali's Blade headlining a solo movie.
