Marvel's first Armor Wars setup with the help of Tony Stark's creation, the arc reactor. The trailer is the first official look into the Disney+ series starring Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) and Talos (Ben Mendelsohn) set to release sometime in 2023. This first glance at the show gives more information about the plot and what Nick Fury is going up against, but it's very easy to miss the hints pointing to an Armor Wars plot line.
Kevin Feige says that the events of Secret Invasion will tie directly into the Armor War series. While there aren't any official details about how the two Disney+ shows will connect, the trailer for Nick Fury's show indicates that Feige is telling the truth. Even with Avengers: Endgame, his technology still plays an important role in the Multiverse Saga–especially when it falls into the wrong hands.
Around a minute and thirty seconds into the Secret Invasion trailer, Emilia Clarke's character walks into a Russian laboratory with people working on something that takes the shape of an arc reactor. The clip is shown for a second, and then it's gone, but the structure being built in that scene is a clear callback to the arc reactor seen in potential Tony Stark-inspired arc reactor in the trailer, it hints at Stark tech getting into the hands of individuals with bad intent, which is what the "Armor Wars" comic storyline is all about.
Why Do The Skrulls Need An Arc Reactor?
In the power of the Tesseract. One thing to note is that the Tesseract doesn't exist in this universe anymore, since Thanos destroyed the Infinity Stones in Avengers: Endgame. Again, there is little known about the plot of this series besides what is seen in the trailer, but it's likely that the Skrulls' reasons for needing an arc reactor aren't for heroic purposes.
Secret Invasion is already showing its connection to past and future MCU projects, such as Armor Wars, through its first trailer. Whether it be the hint at the Stark tech arc reactor, the history of the Skrulls, or the appearances of old characters, the series is already jam-packed with MCU callbacks. Hopefully, more will come to light about how this show sets up Armor Wars as its release date approaches.
