What Could The Secret Seinfeld Project Be?

Seinfeld characters Krammer, George, Elaine, and Jerry

The cast of Seinfeld has reunited in several forms since the end of the show's run. Most cleverly, the core four actors reunited for a season-long arc on HBO's Curb Your Enthusiasm. A fictionalized version of Larry David wants to bring back Seinfeld for another season. After casting debacles and some self-deprecating humor from the stars playing themselves, the arc largely seems to reinforce that it would be a terrible idea to revive a show as iconic as Seinfeld.

One of the greatest sitcoms of all time, Seinfeld delivered numerous funny episodes, except for the finale. There are many reasons why it flopped.

But there have also been much smaller revivals. This was the case in February 2014 when Seinfeld, Jason Alexander (George), and Wayne Knight (Newman) played their respective Seinfeld characters for a spot during halftime of Super Bowl XLVIII. A longer version established that these were older versions of the sitcom characters. At the time, Jerry Seinfeld indicated that the longer and uncut version would probably be the last cast reunion, though his more recent remarks put that in doubt.

It could be the case that the secret project is another relatively small-scale Super Bowl commercial rather than a full revival to correct the show's ending. In any case, the actors have shared their views on the Seinfeld ending and the big expectations the show faced. It will be interesting to see how the secret project will address that.
