Part of what made the sitcomhow each main character handled relationships. George can't seem to hold onto a woman while Jerry isn't one to commit. Kramer is a real lady's man and has a certain charm that ladies love. Elaine is no different.

She's smart, well-spoken, and has a good head on her shoulders. But throughout the course of the show and her many boyfriends, she's made some questionable decisions on why she broke up with them in the first place. Some might even call her reasons a bit self-absorbed and even comical.

Couldn't Decide On A Name For Joel Rifkin

Rifkin played by Anthony Cistaro in Seinfeld

One might think that catching a good and decent man would be enough for a relationship. When Elaine starts dating a guy in season five who happens to have the same name as a serial killer, she's not so pleased. The whole relationship is quite comical and the reason why he broke up with him.

There's an embarrassing moment at a Giants game when Joel Rifkin's name is announced over the loudspeaker. Elaine is so embarrassed that she pleads for him to change his name. The whole break up scene elicits a chuckle. They go back and forth trying to choose a name. Elaine even suggests O.J. Unable to decide, they break up.

When She Hates Eddie

Eddie season 2, episode 12 of Seinfeld

In season two, Elaine is excited to have her long-distance boyfriend come stay with her. But things go terribly wrong for Elaine to the point she becomes a hot mess. Her reasoning as to why she's so distraught over Eddie can be summed up into the comical phrase, "Just because."

She tells Jerry that she can't stand him anymore. The best part is that she has no real reason as to why she feels this way. Eddie hasn't done anything wrong. She clamors trying to get Eddie to go back home but fails miserably. They still break up but Elaine must suffer a few more weeks with him.

Kurt Goes To Jail & Becomes Bald

Kurt Season 8, Episode 11 of Seinfeld

Elaine's reasoning for breaking up with an incredibly great guy in episode 11 of season eight are pretty absurd. She starts dating a guy named Kurt and she discovers that he has a luscious full head of hair. However, he shaves it for his swim team. Though, after some encouragement, he grows it back, but they soon discover that he's going bald.

George gives him a pep talk about baldness and seizing life. Kurt, in return, asks Elaine to marry him. Elaine accepts because why not. But in the end, Kurt gets mistaken for George and gets arrested. Elaine learns he'll be gone for months and gives up on him and cuts off the engagement.

Billy Isn't Sponge Worthy

Billy played by Scott Patterson

The iconic episode involving the discontinuation of her birth control, The Sponge, is one of the most memorable. It's mostly because of Elaine's storyline. She's dating a good guy named Billy but after learning that the Sponge is no longer made, she gets cautious. She can't afford to waste the ones she managed to get.

Is Billy worthy? Elaine puts him through a “sponge-worthy” test. She accepts his proposal, but the next morning elicits some laughs. Billy thinks he's won and wants round two. Elaine is quick to say no and says she can't spare any more.

Jack "The Wiz" Is Too Much

The Wiz season 9, Episode 5 of Seinfeld

David Puddy is one of Elaine's more consistent boyfriends. While at Monk's, she gets lost in the dazzling blue eyes of Jack. So entranced, she breaks up with Puddy. She and Jack also have an on-again-off-again relationship. Jack might be her dream man until Jerry tells her the truth about his alter ego.

There's nothing like being "The Wiz" to get Elaine uninterested. Elaine realizes where she's seen Jack before. He plays an eccentric and energetic character for an electronic store commercial. That's it for Elaine and she breaks it off.

Aaron Is Too Nice

Aaron played by Judge Reinhold

Elaine starts dating a guy named Aaron in season five. He's a good catch and even Elaine's co-workers think so. But he has one small problem that Elaine doesn't notice. He's a close talker and gets right into one's personal space. Comically enough, this isn't the reason why Elaine breaks up with him.

She ends up breaking up with him because he's too nice. When he meets the Seinfeld's, he decides to take them out for some fun in New York City. He becomes a little obsessive when taking them everywhere and thinking he could have done more. Aaron was too accommodating for Elaine's liking.

Ned Gets Blacklisted From Hop Sing's

Elaine with Ned in Seinfeld

When Elaine realizes that Ned Isakoff is a communist, she doesn't shy away. She actually has no problem introducing him as one to people she knows. The  “bland, drab, olive-colored clothing” is perfectly alright with her. The reason why these two break up would make anyone's head shake in laughter.

Elaine's address is out of the delivery zone of Hop Sing's. When she tries to trick them, she gets blacklisted. Ned has a special connection to the restaurant because of his father. Elaine orders food for them and the delivery man recognizes Elaine and blacklists Ned too. Ned is furious, to say the least, and they break it off.

Fred Doesn't Elaine, At All

Fred in season 7 of Seinfeld

It's safe to say that Elaine has some reasons as to why she dates someone. She bumps into Fred Yerkes on the street and re him from a party she attended. But Fred has absolutely no recollection of meeting or speaking at the party. Elaine becomes a bit confused and distraught over it.

So distraught that she decides to go out with him to try and jog his memory. Fred re every single detail of what happened at the party, minus Elaine. Elaine breaks it off after realizing how ridiculous she's being and says, "What am I doing? I’m on a date with this guy because he didn’t me? He’s demented, listen to him.”

John Germaine Can't Play His Saxophone

John Germaine season 7 of Seinfeld

Elaine becomes pretty smitten with her new guy, John Germaine. She finds him incredibly attractive not only for his looks but because he's a jazz player. But there's one problem. He doesn't do everything in the bedroom. Things go wrong when Jerry tells one of John's friends that the relationship is "pretty hot and heavy."

It's apparently something that should never be said about a relationship and Elaine panics. This isn't the fatal event that causes the breakup, though. John and Elaine get to do everything in the bedroom, but John's lips are so fatigued that he can't play his saxophone in front of important record executives.

Jake Jarmel Didn't Use An Exclamation Point

Jake Jarmel and Elaine Jujyfruits

In Jake Jarmel's relationship with Elaine, Jake is the one to call it quits. Not once but twice. Jake seems like the absolute perfect guy. When Elaine comes home, he's cooking her dinner and he even cleaned the apartment. Major brownie points. Elaine ruins it, massively, when Jake jotted down Elaine's messages.

Elaine becomes angry over him not using an exclamation point to show enthusiasm over her friend having her baby. Jake finds the fight ridiculous and breaks it off. They get back together and Elaine ruins it in the most comical way possible. When she learns he's been in a car accident, instead of rushing to the hospital, she needs to quickly buy something. She couldn't resist a box of Jujyfruits.
