Tyler Stanaland and Brittany Snow recently announced their split. Tyler was at the center of a lot of this season's drama, so it will be interesting to see what season 2 brings.

Fans have been very vocal about this cast and how conflicted they feel trying to pick sides from the beginning through the end. It's brilliantly edited, so characters that seem likable at one point might sink low in their very next scene. There are several personalities showcased in the cast, and not all are depicted in a flattering light.

Alex Hall

Alexandra Hall from Selling The OC

Alex Hall is by far the star of the season, for better or worse. She is the first character who is shown doing an interview portion, so the audience begins the Selling The OC journey with her point of view. By the end, though, her character comes into question. Though it's never a full picture with reality TV, the season makes Alex look dramatic to say the least.

She is very quick to anger and defensive whenever there is conflict in the office, and she has her favorites that she is insistent on being incredibly close with. While she sometimes comes off as protective, she also has more than a few moments of being downright unpleasant. Viewers are left wondering if a later season will bring her a redemption arc.

Kayla

Kayla Cardona Selling The OC

Similarly to Alex, Kayla's story throughout season one unravels gradually and doesn't look very good by the end. She spends a majority of the season feeling alienated and disrespected by Alex Hall and Polly. Then, once Rose and Jarvis attempt to back her up and stand up for her, Kayla completely shifts from the pressure of being around everyone.

In the final episode, she suddenly is claiming to only trust Alex Hall, which is the opposite of what she says throughout most of the season. She also has some manipulative tendencies and seems to share her personal struggles as an excuse instead of letting people know where she is coming from. She also doesn't seem to ask about others either.

Tyler

Tyler Stanaland and Alex Hall from Selling The OC

Much to his dismay, Tyler is at the center of a lot of the drama throughout the season. But it takes drama to be a spinoff of one of Netflix's best reality shows. Women in the office get upset after a drunken night in which Kayla tried to kiss him, but another group is upset by all of his physical closeness with Alex and Polly.

None of the upsets make any sense and all of it seems hypocritical. At the very least, Tyler does a decent job of shutting down the drama by talking to Kayla and letting her know where he stands and that she had his forgiveness, but he also doesn't handle any of it that well, especially at the end when he gets defensive of his closeness with Alex and Polly.

Polly

Polly Brindle from Selling the OC

Polly is undeniably a part of the drama, and she doesn't even seem to be bothered by the fact that she is. At least she's pretty honest about it. She doesn't talk as much as others in the cast about trying to avoid drama. Instead, her main point is about Rose and Jarvis making the environment hostile, which doesn't seem to be the case.

Even though Polly makes a lot of snap judgments in the season about people like Kayla and Jarvis, she gets some redemption points for coming off as somewhat likable because she's funny, and she has to deal with people not understanding her just because of her very basic, easily understandable British accent.

Brandi

Brandi Marshall Selling The OC

As badly as Brandi seems to want to stay neutral based on some of her words and interviews throughout the season, she doesn't do that great of a job in execution. She seems to willingly participate in the dramatic conversations as much as anyone else.

Somehow, Brandi seems to go through the season unscathed, but this might not be the case in the future. She doesn't entirely remove herself from the drama, so it may find her in the future. She mostly seems to mean well though.

Austin

Austin Victoria Selling The OC Season 1

Austin is another example of someone who falls mostly in the middle, because the good and the bad he showcases throughout the season leave him pretty leveled out.

He seems like an incredible, loving father and family man. It's sweet when he's on the beach with his family, and hilarious when he comes in with a story about his daughter getting something stuck up her nose, but he also doesn't seem like the most attentive husband. Hopefully this isn't true and just due to editing. He also adds to the upset on the yacht in the finale.

Gio

gio-helou-selling-the-oc

Opposite to Alex Hall, Gio is on the side of the cast that looks bad in the beginning of the season and then gradually gets redeemed with each episode, to the point of being a fan favorite of the Selling The OC cast by the end.

In the first few scenes he comes off an obnoxious, pretentious, spoiled, and pretty inappropriate in the workplace, but he seems to just be an acquired taste, and he does have some learning to do. However, his relationship with both his mother and his wife seem incredibly sweet. He's the type of partner that speaks up for his wife, and that's commendable.

Alexandra Jarvis

Alexandra Jarvis from Selling The OC

It's a joy to see the real Alexandra Jarvis come out as the season unfolds. The audience gets a lot of reactions from other people in the office and how they feel about Jarvis and Rose before they are featured in the show much. This type of drama makes the show amazing, binge-worthy reality TV. However, once the two women are more present, they're incredibly likable.

Jarvis is brilliant, well-educated, and well-spoken for the most part. Even though she's from the south, she does say "honey" a lot in tense conversations with people like Polly, who vocalized being triggered by the word. She might not have meant it, but she could probably avoid certain turns of phrase to keep the peace a little better.

Alexandra Rose

Alexandra Rose from Selling the OC

Alexandra Rose seems to be a sweetheart who has come along way and worked really hard to have the career she has today. She's found a like-minded business partner to team up with, and there's not anything wrong with that. From what the season shows, the two of them don't seem to be doing anything in the office but focusing on their work.

Another noticeable difference in how Rose carries herself is how she chooses to share her story. The season only shows her opening up to Jarvis, Gio, and Gio's mom to explain to them why the rumors about her and her career hit her really hard. She brings her past up when she needs comfort and creates a dialogue around it instead of trying to wield it for defense.

Jason

Jason Oppenheim from Selling Sunset smiling

After an Selling Sunset, Jason is around some for the first season of Selling the OC, and he's an even more welcome presence after the recent season and reunion showcased more of his personality and his heart.

While he isn't as present in this first season as he may be in the future, Jason brings a nice, calming energy to the chaos, just like always. He refuses to tolerate any unnecessary behavior that hurts the business. The show wouldn't exist without his hard work and his likable presence keeping these offices somewhat together.
