Netflix has renewed Selling Tampa, which was canceled by Netflix last fall.
The news that Selling The OC will return for both seasons 2 and 3 was reported by Us Weekly on Wednesday, January 18th. Netflix revealed that production will begin sometime this winter. No premiere date has been revealed yet, but Us indicated that the second season will likely be able to stream later this year.
At this time, it is unclear if there will be any changes to the cast. Unlike the previous two series, season 1's cast was made up of both male and female realtors. Notable cast included the Alexandras, Rose and Jarvis, as well as designated show villain, Alex Hall. Most of the drama centered on those three, as well as Tyler Stanaland, Kayla Cardona, and Polly Brindle.
Potential Selling The OC Seasons 2 & 3 Drama
Between Kayla's attempted kiss, Polly stripping naked on an office beach day, and Alex's infamous "nosey," Tyler's marital status was behind many feuds. But the next two seasons will follow the 33-year-old after a major life change. Not long after the series premiered, Tyler Stanaland and Brittany Snow announced their divorce. When Tyler shared their t statement on Instagram, a number of comments theorized his on-screen behavior was responsible. The split also quickly set off speculation that the surfer would date Alex. However, the former interior designer insisted she and Tyler were still just friends.
That's not the only drama that could be brewing. Jason Oppenheim made headlines for itting the Orange County realtors could go "too far." Unlike the other two series, he said it was a difficult dynamic because many co-stars really didn't like each other. Renewing Selling The OC may lead to some controversy and backlash for the streaming service. Back in November, Netflix canceled Selling Tampa after one season. Unlike Sunset and OC, this series followed Allure Realty, not the Oppenheim Group. That Florida-set agency was entirely made up of women of color, including founder Sharelle Rosado. When the cancelation was announced, cast member Juwana Colbert suggested it was due to racism. Renewing Selling The OC for not one, but two seasons may renew this criticism.
Like Selling The OC, original Oppenheim Group series Selling Sunset was also renewed for two more seasons. However, in a major change, Christine Quinn will not return. Most of the drama and fighting has been centered on her since season 1. In her place, Bre Tiesi and Nicole Young were added to the cast. Fans will have to wait and see if Selling Sunset can stay entertaining and retain a high level of drama.
