Netflix announces The Get Down and the Wachowskis' Sense8.

An ambitious series with production spanning multiple continents, Sense8 follows the lives of eight individuals around the world who are mentally linked in their sensate cluster. The main cluster of the series is made up of an incredibly diverse roster of characters, and fans around the world were heartbroken when Netflix canceled Sense8 after two seasons and a two-hour Christmas special. However, the streaming giant has heard fans' pleas to revive Sense8 and the sensates will return.

The official Sense8 Twitter posted a letter signed by co-creator Lana Wachowski announcing the series will return for a two-hour series finale that is expected to debut sometime in 2018. The letter also leaves the door open for more episodes, though nothing is certain beyond the two-hour finale. Take a look at the letter below:

cast was in talks for a third season.

Now, fans will at least have a chance to see how the stories of Sense8's main characters conclude even though the two-hour finale isn't a true revival, like NBC's Sweet/Vicious, Hulu's East Los High, WGN's Underground, and more.

Still, Lana Wachowski's hint that there could be more in store for Sense8 seems to indicate Netflix is at least open to the idea of bringing the series back for more beyond the two-hour finale. Of course, that will likely depend on how popular the finale turns out to be and whether the show's viewership numbers increase. Until anything is made official, fans of Sense8 have at least two more hours to spend with their favorite sensates.
