Frequent creative collaborators and writers of Sausage Party, Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg have announced their next t project is adapting the scripted comedy podcast, Bubble, into an adult animated film. The Sony Pictures Entertainment produced Sausage Party was a hit for the team back in 2016. It became one of the highest-grossing R-rated animated comedies, so Bubble feels like a natural follow-up.
For Rogen and Goldberg's second foray into the animated comedy world, Bubble takes place in a corporate utopia and features a group assembled by an app, Huntyr, to hunt monsters in a futuristic gig economy. The show's first season premiered in 2018 on Maximum Fun and was the platform's first scripted podcast. Jordan Morris created the 10-episode sci-fi series. According to Variety, Morris will collaborate with Rogen and Goldstein on the screenplay and serve as co-executive producer along with Maximum Fun. Sony Pictures Entertainment will work with Rogen, Goldberg, and Morris to bring the podcast adaptation to the big screen.
Kyle Hunter, Ariel Shaffir, James Weaver, and David Manpearl co-wrote Sausage Party with Rogen and Goldman, and the team will return as executive producers for the comedy. Audiences can only hope that some of the Sausage Party voice actors make appearances. In addition to Rogen, that film features the voices of Jonah Hill, Paul Rudd, Bill Hader, Kristin Wigg, Nick Kroll, Michael Cera, and Danny McBride, to name just a few. Given that so many of the same creatives from Sausage Party are involved with the animated adaptation of Bubble, the odds seem good there will be some familiar voices in the cast.
