Karen Aldrige's Severance character, Asal Reghabi barely appears for a few minutes in season 1, but the show promises to make her a bigger part of its story in the future. Reghabi Is A Former Lumon Employee Who Installed Mark's Chip
In Severance season 1, Asal Reghabi is introduced as a former Lumon surgeon who not only installed Mark's chip but also performed the first reintegration on Petey. Mark first talked to Reghabi after he answered a call from her on Petey's phone. Although Mark did not know her, Reghabi instantly recognized his voice and asked him to meet her. The two met in “one of Ganz's old lab buildings” at Ganz College, where Reghabi seemingly hoped to convince Mark to get reintegrated to be able to find the truth about what Lumon is doing and expose them.

Reghabi's brief encounter with Mark in Severance season 1 does not reveal much about her motives and how much she knows about his outie's life. However, in season 2, it becomes evident that she knows about Mark's outie a lot more than he had anticipated. She reveals his wife, Gemma, was alive in the Lumon building the last time she saw her, confirming that she knows everything from Mark's outie's relationships to the reason why he ed Lumon as a severed employee.

She Disappeared After Killing Doug
Reghabi and Mark's first meeting in Severance season 1 was cut short when Doug interrupted and tried to convince Mark that he was his friend from work. Since Reghabi knew Doug was actually the head of security on the Severed Floor, she killed him before assuring Mark that she would be in touch. Before parting ways, she even said they would finish what Petey started. Soon after this meeting, however, Reghabi disappeared, and Mark did not hear from her again throughout Severance season 1.
Although Lumon does not seem to know she was responsible for murdering Doug, and even the board denies the possibility of reintegration, Reghabi understands that her actions could land her in serious trouble.

Why Reghabi Is Helping Mark With The Reintegration Process In Severance Season 2
She Knows Lumon Is Up To No Good
Although Reghabi, too, does not seem to know what exactly Lumon is trying to achieve, she is against the severance procedure and believes it is inhumane. She also knows Lumon is doing something suspicious and hopes to expose the company's wrongdoings by reintegrating employees and helping them find the truth. Reghabi also seems to empathize with Mark and his situation after learning that he ed Lumon as a severed worker to deal with the grief surrounding his wife's death. This explains why she tells him Gemma might still be alive and encourages him to reintegrate.
