The guest stars of Shameless make fans get just as attached as the main cast and many are sad when these stars leave the show. The show has many memorable guest appearances in its last ten years and its hard to narrow it down to the top ten appearances.
But when taking in to the reception of the role and the impact it had on the show and its audience, ten guest stars do seem to stick out more than others. Heres the top ten guest stars as seen on Shameless ranked in order of popularity.
Amy Smart- Jasmine Hollander (Season 1)
Amy Smart plays Fiona's new friend Jasmine in seasons 1 and 2. Fans will recognize her from The Butterfly Effect and Just Friends.
On Shameless her character Jasmine, a married mother of 3, appears to want a little more than friendship from Fiona but nevertheless, she ends up helping Fiona through a rough patch. And fans were not exactly compiling when they witnessed her character kiss Fiona.
Alex Borstein - Lou Deckner (Various Seasons)
Many might not know this by the The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel actress has also appeared in many of the episodes she wrote.
She appeared as Franks's attorney, popping up randomly in episodes during season 1 through season 5. As she is an expert in loopholes and ways to cheat the system, she often helps Frank in his schemes.
Bob Saget - Father D'Amico (Season 9)
Bob Saget plays Father D’Amico, the head of a private Catholic school Kevin and Veronica are trying to get the twins into in season 9.
In season 9's sixth episode, "Face It, You're Gorgeous", the couple must have a meeting with the Priest in order to get approved and Bob Saget throws everything into the role, bringing silliness and humor to the scenes he is in. Saget expressed that the had a great amount of fun playing the role on Facebook, and it's apparent when you watch the episode.
Constance Zimmer- Claudia Nicolo (Season 10)
In the season 10 episode, "Citizen Carl", Debbie meets an attractive older woman at the bar when she is trying to avoid the set up her friend planned, involving Debbie sleeping with an old man for money. Instead, Debbie sleeps with Claudia (Constance Zimmer) and is mistaken for a hooker.
Eventually, the mistake is sorted out and the two begin a relationship of sorts, with the rich businesswoman showering Debbie with gifts and even offering her a job doing barely anything. But Debbie messes up this great set up by sleeping with Claudia's underage daughter Julia, who was using Debbie to get back at her mom. Constance Zimmer adds her iconic attitude to the character and it was a fun fling to watch.
Elizabeth Rodriguez - Fay Donahue (Season 10)
Many will Elizabeth Rodriguez as the Orange Is the New Black but Rodriguez brought her signature sass to a new guest role on Shameless this past season. She played the wealthy and mysterious Faye Donahue, who seems to have a big interest in Frank.
Viewers learn her obsession with Frank has to do with his part in having her highschool sweetheart arrested many years ago while Frank got off free. She kidnaps Frank and ties him up, torturing him until he re his crimes and apologies. She leaves but Frank stays in her house for the rest of the season.
Sherilyn Fenn- Queenie Slott (Season 6)
Queenie is Frank's ex and mother of his other daughter Sammie Slott, who viewers discover in season 4 and she is played by Sherilyn Fenn, who fans may as Audrey Horne from the originalGilmore Girls.
In season 6, after Sammi is imprisoned for shooting Mickey, Queenie comes back into his life and the two rediscover their romantic feelings for each other. The two end up running off together to her commune along with a pregnant Debbie. Sherilyn Fenn plays the eccentric hippy with a hilarious grace and her character helps Debbie, Lip, and Frank and many other of the Gallaghers with her unique gifts and perspective.
Courtney Cox- Jen Wagner (Season 9)
Fans haven't seen much of the Courtney Cox reminded fans why they love her with her appearance in Shameless' 9th season. In the episode "Face It Your Gorgeous", Cox played Actress Jen Wagner, whom Lip is entrusted with taking care of prior to a huge appearance the struggling alcoholic has coming up.
All Lip has to do is keep her sober but this proves to be way more of a challenge than Lip imagined and he has to come up with creative ways to keep alcohol out her hands. This leads to her slumming it on the south side so he can keep an eye on her which is entertaining to watch.
Katey Sagal- Ingrid Jones (Season 9)
The amazing Frank's heart in Season 9 as the bipolar Psychologist Ingrid Jones.
She almost makes fans believe that Frank is going to end up with the irate, Monica upgrade, but alas Ingrid's neurotic behavior causes her to leave, but not after birthing twins from Carls's DNA. Sagal is sensational as the loony love interest and fans would definitely not mind seeing more of her in the final season.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan- Charlie Peters (Season 4)
Charlie Peters was supposed to be a longer role for Jeffery Dean Morgan than the one episode guest appearance fans ended up with. Morgan played the restaurant owner with a fondness for hiring ex-cons, who gives Fiona her own chance at the end of season 4.
Due to scheduling conflicts, this character was scrapped and replaced by Sean (Dermot Mulroney) who was a love interest for Fiona and recruiting character through season 5 and 6. Some fans would probably have rather had more of Chalie but The Walking Dead needed Neegan.
Luis Guzmán- Mikey O'Shea (Season 9)
Luis Guzman is easily the most likable, fan-favorite guest star the show has seen. He was on only a few episodes of season 9 but he is already missed. Mikey O’Shea was a hilarious companion to the morally corrupt Frank and the bromance between the two was fun to watch and added a great comedic layer to the 9th season as the two competed to win the Hobo Games.
The two eventually team up to try to win together, which leads to the two pretending to be homosexual war veterans, even sharing a smooch. Mikey left at the end of Season 9 to get much needed medical help but hopefully, this wasn't the last fans saw of the character Guzman was great at bringing to life with his signature comedy style.
