While the The Incredible Hulk -- he acts different, too. In the MCU's second-ever film starring Edward Norton as Bruce Banner, Emil Blonsky (played by Tim Roth) took on a monstrous transformation, seeking more gamma power to become strong enough to rival the Hulk. Becoming the Abomination, Blonsky began wreaking havoc in Harlem until he was defeated by the Hulk himself. However, that was nearly 13 years ago. Now, in Shang-Chi, it seems as though the Abomination might not be as abominable as he once was.
In Marvel's Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, the titular hero played by Simu Liu is searching for his sister Xialing after being attacked by agents of their crime boss father Wenwu, otherwise known as the Mandarin. Shang-Chi and his friend Katy eventually find Xialing running an underground fighting ring known as the Golden Daggers club. Before Shang-Chi is forced to fight in the ring himself, the pair witness the Master of the Mystic Arts Wong in a showdown with a redesigned Abomination, updated to better resemble his counterpart in the comics, as opposed to his first cinematic appearance back in 2008.
However, once their fight is over and Wong emerges the victor, the two seem to be quite amicable towards one another. Apparently, they've fought and practiced before, and Wong even asks Blonsky how his jaw feels before the gamma villain willingly follows him through a portal to what looks to be a cell on the She-Hulk (as well as his possible involvement in Marvel's Thunderbolts project).
Seeing as how She-Hulk is reported to be a comedy, it stands to reason that even if Abomination is revealed to be a foe, he'll have some more depth rather than just being a rage monster. After all, Bruce Banner is now Smart Hulk with greater control over his strength, while his cousin, Jenifer Walters, generally has control over her gamma powers as well, allowing her to work as a lawyer by day. As such, Abomination having a somewhat calmer personality could make him more dynamic in the long run, as opposed to being a maniacally one-note monster.
Likewise, while the character's involvement has yet to be confirmed, the Thunderbolts are a team of reformed supervillains. Given Blonsky's new temperament seen in Shang-Chi, he certainly seems like he could fit that bill rather nicely. In any case, it's nice that the Abomination's personality has changed along with his appearance, an indication that Marvel Studios has strong plans for Blonsky beyond just bringing him back for one brief cameo.
