Quick Links
Starting November 9th, 2022, the 3-star raid Sharpedo will be available during the Pokémon GO Greedy Gluttons event. Sharpedo is a shark Pokémon with many resistances and weaknesses due to its rare typing. Taking down Sharpedo should be easy due to its low defensive stats, but without proper counters, its high-damage moves could wipe out a team. Learning what can tackle a Sharpedo effectively before battling saves resources from depleting easily.
The first detail to consider when wanting to take down a Sharpedo is its typing. With Water- and Dark-type resistances, Dark-, Fire-, Ghost-, Ice-, Psychic-, and Water-type Pokémon moves mean sending out a Bronzong that uses Gyro Ball, and Psychic to help take it down might not be the best. Although Sharpedo has many types of resistances, a rare typing was given to three others, such as Mega Gyarados in Pokémon GO, all have heavy-hitting weaknesses.
Sharpedo Type Weaknesses
According to the PokémonGO Hub database, Sharpedo has five super effective weaknesses that can hit it very hard. Consider using Bug-, Electric-, Fairy-, Fighting, and Grass-type moves when up against it in a Pokémon GO Raid Battle. A great move to look for that can deal 2x damage to it is Grass Knot which can be learned by multiple Pokémon, including Alolan Raichu, Whimsicott, and Tapu Bulu. Another great Fighting-type move that many Pokémon can use is Superpower. Finally, using Bewear, Snorlax, or Malamar on a team will deal serious damage to eventually knock out Sharpedo.
Recommended Pokémon for Battle
The top most recommended Pokémon for battle against Sharpedo in Pokémon GO have same-type attack bonuses. For example, Kartana in Pokémon GO uses Razor Leaf as its quick move and Leaf Blade as its charged move. With its typing being 4x resistant to Water-type moves and 2x resistant to Dark-, outlasting Waterfall and Crunch from Sharpedo during a Raid Battle should give Kartana a significant advantage. Another Pokémon to consider using is the Bug- and Fighting-type Pheromosa which utilizes two different types of moves, Bug Bite and Focus Blast, which can also deal severe damage.
Rewards for Finishing a Sharpedo 3-Star Raid
Until November 17th, 2022, trainers have an opportunity to battle and catch Sharpedo. After finishing the 3-Star Raid Battle in Pokémon GO, expect to receive the following random rewards: 3 Revives, 1 Golden Razz Berry, 2 Rare Candies, 2 Super Potions, 2 Potions, or the two types of TMs. With or without friends to battle in Pokémon GO, the best type-matchups can help trainers win against Sharpedo. With the same type of attack bonuses and recommended Pokémon as well, Sharpedo should be an easy catch.
