most popular titles in recent years, has never been afraid to get a little weird. The series' paranormal premise and overall unwillingness to stick to one genre has led to some wacky developments, all while its protagonist has been on a journey to reclaim his reproductive organs. At this point, there isn't much the series can do that would surprise its rapidly growing fan base, but it seems Dandadan never runs out of tricks.
The most recent chapter #194, titled "We've Been Hijacked", picks up with the gang running into the returning Kito family on an airplane. When fighting breaks out, all turns to chaos, as Momo is still tiny and slowly fading from her loved ones' memories, and Zuma's eyesight keeps getting worse. However, just as it seems the main cast is gaining the upper hand, an unexpected Sharknado reference makes the situation far more complicated.

Things Go From Bad to Worse For Dandadan's Main Characters
Dandadan's current arc is one of the most tense and high-stakes the series has seen thus far. The main cast is split into different groups, both facing their own immediate threats, all while Momo and Zuma are in a race against time to reverse the effects of the cursed box. Though the latter were getting close to saving themselves, their plane has now randomly been struck by a storm of sharks being thrown from a distant tornado. The chapter ends on quite the cliffhanger, with the plane rapidly descending as Jiji helplessly looks on.

Dandadan Is Shonen Jump's Future, And 1 Comment From Its Creator Proves It
Dandadan is one of the current hottest titles in the anime and manga community, and its creator already explained what makes it so special.
With the engine gone, the cast is now in deeper trouble than they were before, and even if they manage to save themselves somehow, they'll have to contend with whatever is causing a tornado to hurl sharks at them. The latest development is a clear and unexpected reference to the 2013 horror/sci-fi movie Sharknado, which became a meme online when first released, but has since gained a cult following and countless sequels. While a Shōnen Jump manga may be the last place readers expect to be reminded of the film, it isn't the first time it's been referenced.
Dandadan Isn't the First Jump Manga to Reference Sharknado
Chainsaw Man Also Included a Sharknado Reference During the Reze Arc
Oddly enough, Dandadan isn't the first Jump manga to make use of a Sharknado reference, as Chainsaw Man also alluded to the film during its Reze arc in 2019. Denji, being forced to get creative with his abilities, chose to use his chains as reins and ride Beam, the Shark Fiend, into battle against the Typhoon Devil. Dandadan author Yukinobu Tatsu was an assistant to Chainsaw Man's Tatsuki Fujimoto during the arc's publication, and likely used the experience as inspiration. Fans can catch the scene on the big screen when the Reze Arc movie hits theaters in October.
Dandadan is in the midst of one of its most chaotic story arcs yet, and it seems the situation is only going to get more complicated for Momo and the rest of the cast now that a shark tornado has appeared. It's practically impossible to predict what will come next in the series, but fans can expect some high-stakes action as Momo and Zuma continue to race to rid themselves of their curse. The Dandadan anime is set to return this July, and is expected to steal the spotlight once more with its Evil Eye arc.

Two high school students, embroiled in a wager to prove the existence of ghosts or aliens, encounter daunting paranormal threats, acquire superpowers, and possibly discover love. The series blends supernatural elements with personal dynamics as the protagonists navigate their newfound abilities and unexpected challenges.
