Players are now able to shrink the NEO-One in New Pokémon Snap to access new DLC areas. To the surprise of pretty much everyone, New Pokémon Snap received a substantial free update featuring new content and Pokemon. While many expected the game to feature DLC, several considered it would be through paid content. New Pokémon Snap has been praised as a return-to-form from the original title released back on the Nintendo 64. The roster of Pokémon present in the game also finds a balance between the classic Pokémon of Red and Blue and Pokémon from newer generations like Sun and Moon and Sword and Shield. Now, this new DLC has introduced 20 new Pokémon for players to photograph. In this DLC, players will be able to shrink the NEO-One in order to reach new areas.
To shrink the NEO-One in New Pokémon Snap and unlock new areas, players will need to install the newest update for the game. Players can do this by hitting the + button over the title on the main menu and selecting "Check for Updates." With the update installed, here's how players can shrink the NEO-One in New Pokémon Snap and explore the nooks and crannies of each stage.
How To Shrink The NEO-One in New Pokemon Snap
When booting up New Pokémon Snap after the update has been installed, from the main menu, players should open the "Research" tab. They will be greeted by a cutscene of Todd and Phil introducing the player to the shrinking feature for the NEO-One. There is no extra detail or assignment needed to access this feature since it is a key part of the exploration within this DLC.
When exploring Florio Nature Park, players will be notified when they are approaching an area where they can shrink. A cutscene will play of the NEO-One shrinking, and players will have a chance to explore the Secret Side Path where they can find Pokémon like Snorlax, Shroomish, and Foongus. Players can do this both at night and during the day to observe and photograph different Pokémon and behaviors.
Shrinking the NEO-One will allow players to get a close and personal look at Pokémon from a new perspective, including new poses and animations. This is especially great for those players who have yet to collect every 4-star pose available in the game. Players can even use this feature to ride on the backs of certain Pokémon and see the world through their eyes.
It will be interesting to see if more DLC will come to New Pokémon Snap in the future. Because so many Pokémon exist across multiple generations, it may be possible for future DLC to add more areas, features, and creatures to photograph.
New Pokemon Snap is available now on Nintendo Switch.
