A new trailer for Bloober Team's May 30 PlayStation State of Play, along with a confirmation of the game's release date. While the trailer did descend into the depraved horror the series is known for, with protagonist James Sunderland fending off monsters such as the dark nurses, it also opened with the moment where he meets Angela Orosco in a graveyard, revealing the remake's version of the character for the first time.

Trigger Warning: The following article contains references to suicide and sexual abuse.

darkenedglass took to Reddit with screenshots of some of Angela's moments from the new trailer with the caption "our baby Angela is finally revealed", with the phrasing coming as a surprise to some fellow fans such as NotTheSun0 and Phrickshun, who commented that they previously thought she was in her "early 30s" or was 40, not 19 as she is actually supposed to be.

Arctuirin brought up the oft-relayed rumor that Silent Hill 2's Angela was originally modeled after Sandra Bullock, who would have been in her 30s when the original game was being developed. While the game's creators never seemed to openly address this, these rumors could also have stemmed from the fact Bullock also played a character called Angela in the 1995 thriller, The Net.

Silent Hill 2 is considered the best in the series among fans. Here's the tragic backstory of ing character Angela explained.

Having Angela Look Younger Will Make Some Moments Even More Disturbing

Angela Has One Of The Most Horrific Backstories In Silent Hill 2

Of course, having Angela's new model look closer to her intended age in the Silent Hill 2 remake could make some of the game's moments even more disturbing. When James first meets Angela, she appears to simply be looking for her missing mother, but throughout the game, she is revealed to have had a traumatic past that has deeply affected her personality and mental health, with her later seen talking about her suicidal thoughts while holding a knife.

This is particularly evident with the arrival of the monster Abstract Daddy, who also briefly appeared in the trailer and is arguably the most disturbing monster in the game. Abstract Daddy is the physical manifestation of the severe and constant sexual abuse Angela suffered at the hands of her alcoholic father, Thomas, and its sickening appearance is representative of a man pinning a screaming child to the surface of a bed wrapped in decayed skin.

Angela's backstory is undoubtedly one of the more horrific and heartbreaking ones in Silent Hill 2, which already explored many disturbing themes throughout James Sunderland's story. As the remake pushes for more realistic character models, this could make these moments even harder to stomach than they were in the original game, further adding to the horror that unfolds.
