Bloober Team's pleased fans and critics but the game's first major patch is designed to make the experience a little better for everyone. Despite being suitably impressed by the game's faithful modernization of the classic survival horror, some players have reported issues with rampant bugs and glitches that have detracted from the terror. While these problems fortunately don't appear to be too widespread, those who have struggled with technical issues should welcome the game's latest update with open arms.
Per the official Konami site, the update notes for Silent Hill 2 Remake Patch 1.04 list a slew of fixes that correct some of the more jarring glitches players have encountered. Spider Mannequins will no longer become stuck when attacking James as he squeezes through a narrow gap; On a similar note, an issue that caused the Spider Mannequin event on Fear Path to trigger multiple times has been resolved. There are some minor upgrades too: James' ability to pick up weapons in the final fight has been improved, and the animation for switching weapons should appear more "natural."
Small Changes Make A Big Difference
Nothing Breaks Immersion Like A Technical Bug
While Patch 1.04 may not contain any substantial changes or additional content, it's good to know that Bloober Team is actively responding to player and fixing lingering problems. Silent Hill 2 Remake is a game that's best experienced with unbroken immersion, so ensuring that problems like broken AI or falling through the environment don't disrupt s is paramount to making it as enjoyable as possible. The game has only been out for a few weeks at this point so one has to imagine that even more patches are planned for the future.
Bloober Team has a reputation for putting out janky games that don't live up to the hype they curate ahead of release. The fact that Silent Hill 2 Remake managed to be its best project yet is a testament to the studio's growth.
