The Silent Hill 2 Remake includes all the original version’s endings. There are six endings, separated into those accessible during an initial playthrough and others seen while in New Game Plus Mode. Many requirements are mutually exclusive, so you may need to make several saves to see all endings as early as possible. Alternatively, you could play the entire game many times to fully experience these varying routes.

While Silent Hill 2 Remake has the endings of the 2001 PlayStation 2 original, it does not include SH2's bonus content made for Xbox and PC. Those versions had the ability to play as Maria in a scenario called Born From A Wish. Whether these will come out as DLC or be omitted forever is unclear. Another recent remake, Persona 3 Reload, left out dungeons and bundled it as The Answer. This leaves a precedent for remakes and remasters to roll out features later.

How To Unlock Normal Endings

James’ Actions Determine His Fate

James check the photo of Mary in the Leave Ending of Silent Hill 2 Remake

The standard endings have a hidden “point” system that determines which one plays out. This makes tracking your actions as you play Silent Hill 2 Remake important. In cases of a tie, In Water has the highest priority, followed by Leave, and Maria last.

How to Unlock The In Water Ending

In Water, the ending reflects James’ sadness, guilt, and overall recklessness in Silent Hill 2 Remake. You must take actions that mostly cause harm or make things difficult. Its starting value is 2 points. While this is a low initial score, it is nearly impossible to subtract already gained points.

The Maria ending allows James to fall into his own delusions in Silent Hill 2 Remake. Instead of moving on or being in pain over Mary, he completely forgets about her and focuses on Maria. It begins with a value of 3 points. However, there is a large mix of ways to improve and lower the score.

How To Unlock New Game Plus Endings

Expanded And Joke Endings Become Watchable

James and the Dog in Silent Hill 2 Remake

After clearing Silent Hill 2 Remake at least once, this unlocks New Game Plus Mode. It has many new features, but the most notable is the addition of five special endings. There are three from the original game, but also two new endings for the remake.

How to Unlock The Rebirth Ending

The Rebirth ending uses a point system similar to the original three endings. However, it has the highest priority, making it very easy to override the others. You won’t have to actively lower the score requirements of the other endings if you get all four Rebirth points.

YouTuber locations were changed from the original compared to the original PlayStation 2 release. If you had those memorized, don’t be surprised if you run into just empty rooms.

How to Unlock The Dog Ending

The Dog ending is one of the two humorous conclusions. You should consider it non-canon to the lore of Silent Hill. The entire series is known for weird secret endings.

Should Bloober Team make the next Silent Hill after Silent Hill 2's remake?

After years of waiting, the Silent HIll 2 remake from Bloober Team has finally arrived and left critics and s floored by the magnificence the Polish developer has achieved in updating the iconic survival horror game for a modern aesthetic. Many have already taken to looking at the future of the franchise, sharing their hopes for Bloober Team to develop the next Silent Hill game and have it be an original entry in the series. Despite some of my reservations ahead of the new game's release, the remake has given me the utmost confidence that Konami should consider reteaming with Bloober, as they seem to have a proper grasp on how to create an atmospheric ode to the past while tweaking things just enough to keep it feeling fresh.

Unlike the other endings, this one is seen by finding two specific items and using them to unlock a single room in Silent Hill. These are two Broken Keys. The first is at the Pet Center Store in East South Vale. The other is inside a dog house on Katz Street in West South Vale. Combine both in your inventory. Then, go to Lakeview Hotel and use the full key to unlock the Observation Room.

How to Unlock The UFO Ending

The UFO ending is probably the most bizarre aspect of Silent Hill 2 Remake. Once again, it is unlocked by finding specific items and going to the Lakeview Hotel. This starts by finding the Blue Gem at the Jewelers near the Pet Center, making it possible to start both the Dog and UFO simultaneously. You then need to use the gem from your inventory at three locations in any order, followed by the final one in Lakeview Room 312.
