A new Silent Hill game might be in the works, with Sony developing the game as a PlayStation exclusive. At least, that's according to a series of rumors that Kinda Funny co-host and industry insider Imran Khan claims are "credible." Speaking in the latest episode of the Gamescast podcast, Khan said that he believes the rumors of a new Silent Hill game could well be true. He said, “I think the rumors are credible and I know that the people who are rumored to be involved in Silent Hill are working on something." However, the podcaster also confirmed that he has no direct knowledge of what the supposed developers are actually working on, explaining:

“If Sony’s also making a Silent Hill – which we don’t know that they are, those are just rumors – I would assume that Sony’s not part of [Kojima’s project], if they’re making a separate, Silent Hill-like game, but who knows? The industry’s been weirder than that."

Regardless of whether a new Silent Hill game is one the way, fans of the franchise did get some good news earlier this month. It emerged that P.T. should be playable on the PS5. The backward compatibility feature on the next-gen console means that game files and save data can be transferred from the PS4 over to the PS5. With P.T. not being included in a list of titles that will not work, there's no reason the terrifying experience won't work on the new system.

The Silent Hill franchise is undoubtedly one of the most influential in the horror genre. While some of the more recent titles have not lived up to expectations, the series is still held in high regard and a reboot or sequel would certainly grab the attention of many players. Especially if the new game can recapture the magic of the original.
