The first season of Silo was not even finished when Apple renewed the sci-fi show for another volume, and Silo season 2 was even bigger and more shocking than its predecessor. Silo is based on a series of novels by author Hugh Howey, and tells the story of thousands of people living in a giant silo that acts as an underground bunker. Residents of the silo are forbidden from exploring the outside world. Rebecca Ferguson stars as an engineer named Juliette who begins investigating what happens to people who attempt to leave the silo and how the residents are controlled.
Silo premiered on Apple TV Plus on May 5, 2023, and the Silo season 1 finale became available on the streaming platform beginning June 30, 2023. Though season 1 of the dystopian thriller was well-received, season 2 of Silo has outdone its predecessor from a critical standpoint. Earning a Screen Rant praised season 2's expansion of the scope of the show's world, and gave high marks to the performance of star Rebecca Ferguson. Meanwhile, The Guardian was pleased with the show's "sludgy" visuals and overall claustrophobic feeling which comes through to the viewer.

Rebecca Ferguson once again returned to lead the show as the main character, Juliette, and she was ed by Tim Robbins as the shady leader, Bernard. Likewise, musician-turned-actor Common was on hand again as Robert Sims, and Chinaza Uche reprised his role as Paul. Season 2's cast added a new ensemble member with the addition of Steve Zahn as the mysterious outsider, Solo.

With the release of the sophomore season coming in November 2024, Apple TV+ has dropped a full trailer for Silo season 2.
