Eggs For Bart teased an fourth chapter, but what's the deal with this bizarre horror game parody of beloved sitcom staple, The Simpsons' impressive 30 years on screen, the show has inspired all manner of inventive and often surreal fan tributes. The show is one of the most influential series in TV history, so it's no wonder fans feel the desire to offer their spin on Springfield's first family. It's not unusual for horror game developers to use familiar figures to scare players. Nothing is scarier than subverting a childhood favorite, whether it's in the form of a possessed doll, a creepy clown, or a cartoon sitcom transformed into a nightmarish survival horror game.

This phenomenon can be seen in the wildly popular Five Nights At Freddy's series, which aims—and succeeds—to make a trip to Chuck E. Cheese into a pulse-pounding fight for the player's life. Subverted innocence is a big reason that kids are so often the focus of horror media. What is unusual, however, is an off-hand joke spawning an entire three-chapter horror video game that's populated entirely by the cast of The Simpsons. Inspired by a joke featured in the popular Let's Play series Game Grumps, Eggs For Bart is a horror game with a relatively simple premise.

Playing as Simpsons patriarch/Thomas Pynchon's personal hero, Homer Simpson, players need to collect two dozen of the titular eggs for their only son, the largely unseen Bart. Due to this being a horror game, nothing is quite how it appears, and soon the player finds themselves pursued by a monstrous Marge and Lisa, the demonic—and hilariously shoddily animated—antagonists of the game. Its simple, one-location gameplay is similar to that of the aforementioned Five Nights At Freddy franchise, though a film adaptation of Eggs For Bart seems a lot less likely. Creepy, funny, and surprisingly difficult, the three chapters of Eggs For Bart make for a strangely nostalgic slice of horror gameplay, leaving fans eager for a fourth chapter.

The Simpsons Treehouse of Horror Segments Shinning

The game's second and third chapters allows players to play as Ned Flanders and later Chief Wiggum as they uncover more gory horror, but that's as far as the saga goes—until now. Eggs For Bart creator Fleebs recently revealed that a fourth chapter of the game is soon to be released, and will feature the arrival of a grotesquely animated Peter Griffin, of Family Guy fame. Family Guy and The Simpsons may have a long-standing rivalry, but the beef appears well and truly buried in the game's questionable canon. Not only that, but the creator also promised that after a slew of gruesome and laughably bleak endings to each installment thus far, Eggs For Bart would finally have a happy ending come the close of this fourth installment.

However, that was all just a clever fake-out. The announcement ends with the The Simpsons saga's scariest jump scare thus far: an onscreen message reading, "Just kidding Im never making chapter 4". So, it seems that poor Chief Wiggum, Ned Flanders, and the monstrous eponymous clan are doomed to remain stuck in the nightmarish hell of Eggs for Barchapter 3's ending.
