Over the years, The Simpsons has welcomed various guest stars – from actors to musicians and other celebrities – so it’s not surprising that the movie also had its dose of special guests. However, many of them ended up being left on the cutting room floor for different reasons. Created by Matt Groening, The Simpsons started as a series of animated shorts for The Tracey Ullman Show in 1987 before being developed into a half-hour primetime show and officially debuting on Fox in 1989. Since then, it has become the longest-running American sitcom and has expanded to other media, most notably comic books and film.

The Simpsons follows the daily lives of the title family and other notable citizens of The Simpsons Movie, which saw Springfield being trapped in a dome with the purpose of destroying it and all its people. Just like the series has done (and will keep on doing), the movie had various guest stars, some of them playing themselves (like Tom Hanks and Green Day) and others just lending their image but not their voice, like (President) Arnold Schwarzenegger, who was voiced by Harry Shearer. Others, however, were invited and recorded their lines, but they ended up being cut from the film.

Another name on the list is Kevin Bacon, who had a small cameo with his sons Exon and Kris. The Bacon family played an alternative Fat Tony.

The whole production process for The Simpsons Movie wasn’t easy, and the crew came across with various obstacles, including time restraints which led them to cut out most of the movie’s guest stars. While most probably didn’t play characters relevant to the story or in charge of delivering some jokes, it would have been fun to see an alternative Flanders family, as well as some Sideshow Bob, whose reaction to living under a dome would have been interesting.
