The Simpsons had their start as a series of animated shorts for The Tracey Ullman Show in 1987, and after three seasons, it was developed into a half-hour prime time show, making its proper debut in 1989. Since then, The Simpsons has become the longest-running American scripted primetime TV series and shows no signs of stopping soon.

The Simpsons Movie – in 2007, which not only had the family as leads but also the whole town. The movie saw Springfield being trapped in a dome with the purpose of destroying it and all its residents, with the Simpsons being the only ones who find a way to escape and thus do their best to save their beloved town. In the process, they met other characters, such as Colin (voiced by Tress MacNeille), who became Lisa’s boyfriend.

Colin actually came from Ireland and moved to Springfield with his family as his father was a musician and humanitarian (but he wasn’t Bono). He met Lisa when they were trying to inform the citizens of Springfield about air pollution, and they turned out to have a lot more in common. When the city was trapped under the dome, Lisa and her family became a target of angry citizens (and with good reason, as Homer’s irresponsible actions played a key role in the creation of the dome) and had to leave, escaping through Maggie’s sandbox and leaving the dome. Once outside, Colin and Lisa said goodbye, and he showed her a song he wrote titled “Lisa’s Song”. At the end of the movie, Lisa and Colin reunited and walked off together to get some ice-cream. Sadly, she hasn’t mentioned him ever since, but he has made some brief appearances in the series.

Following his debut in opening sequence, showing the citizens of Springfield restoring the town after the whole dome situation. As Bart skates through town, he weaves in between President Schwarzenegger, Colin, Moe, Russ Cargill, and the Medicine Woman. Colin then had a cameo appearance in season 20’s episode “Lisa the Drama Queen” as a member of the rec center’s art class. It’s then assumed that they broke up between the movie and “Lisa the Drama Queen”, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t friends anymore.

Colin wasn’t a major character in the movie but his connection with Lisa was heartwarming. Still, it’s unlikely the series will give him a place after all this time – if it didn’t happen right after the movie, it won’t happen now. Even though his time in The Simpsons was brief, Colin will be ed as the kid who wrote a song to Lisa and wrote it on the glass of the dome for her to read the notes, and who made Milhouse so jealous he told Lisa he died.
