The Sims 1: Legacy Collection is now available as part of the 25th Anniversary of the entire series. As a PC digital release on the EA App, Epic Games Store, and Steam, it includes the original PC game and all seven expansion packs along with improvements to make everything compatible with Windows 10 and 11. The collection also grants a kit for The Sims 4, making it worthwhile for those wanting to still play the fourth game.

EA led up to the release of The Sims 1: Legacy Collection with some mysterious images on social media. It was initially unclear if it would be both the first and second game, and if it would arrive as a single bundle. On January 31, it was officially revealed that the entire collection has three separate options: The Sims 1: Legacy Collection, The Sims 2: Legacy Collection, and The Sims 25th Birthday Bundle, which includes the former two at a lower total price.

Everything Included In The Sims 1: Legacy Collection

All Expansion Packs & A little Extra

As implied by the name, The Sims 1: Legacy Collection includes everything from the PC version of the game. It, unfortunately, is not updated to feature townies or locations that were made for the console version of The Sims 1, so some lore-important families like the Landgraabs are not featured. Below is a list of all titles included in the $19.99 collection:

  • The Sims
  • The Sims: Livin’ Large
  • The Sims: House Party
  • The Sims: Hot Date
  • The Sims: Vacation
  • The Sims: Unleashed
  • The Sims: Superstar
  • The Sims: Makin’ Magic
  • The Sims 4: Throwback Fit Kit

The Sims 1: Legacy Collection can also be purchased as part of a bundle with The Sims 2: Legacy Collection. The new package of the sequel contains even more add-ons, although a number are smaller Stuff Packs that don't feature the same scope of content as full expasnions.

Is The Sims 1: Legacy Collection Worth The Cost?

Going All In On the Full Bundle May Be Better

Even with nine items included for $19.99, the value of The Sims 1: Legacy Collection may be a hard sell on its own. By instead purchasing the full $39.99 The Sims: 25th Birthday Bundle — which adds in The Sims 2 and all of its expansions - it is possible to save $10, nearly half the price of The Sims 1: Legacy Collection.

Opting for The Sims 25th Birthday Bundle will also install The Sims 4, which is free on its own.

The value of the entire bundle might depend on how dedicated each The Sims player is. The original game is 25 years old, and the second is 21, along with the Sims 4 kits being over two years old. The legacy titles have both been sold cheaper for a long time. For a brief period, they were even offered for free to promote Origin’s storefront, but were later discontinued entirely. For some, they may still own the base games or multiple expansions and are just rebuying for convenience.

For players that never owned The Sims 1 or The Sims 2, then The Sims: 25th Birthday Bundle is an easy purchase. There is a lot of content and lore to behold in the two older games, with many players preferring them over The Sims 4. However, for those that only want The Sims 1 and have no desire to buy the second title, it would be a good idea to wait for a sale or other discount on The Sims 1: Legacy Collection.
