A recent Sims characters like Bella Goth and Nancy Landgraab who have appeared in multiple entries in the franchise. Their families each have their own complex backstory, which the Sims 4 team has expanded upon with its latest post.
The Landgraab family is one of the most integral parts of Sims lore, as the Landgraabs canonically founded the town of Sunset Valley and have since expanded their real estate empire many times over. The Landgraab name has so much wealth and prestige behind it that Geoffrey Landgraab, Nancy's husband, assumed her last name when they married. Regardless of the game, Nancy is always portrayed as a materialistic snob who's obsessed with her own appearance, and fans have long speculated that Nancy is meant to appear as though she's has plastic surgery done based upon both her personality and the details of her appearance in Create A Sim, particularly in Sims 4.
A recent Sims 4 Twitter post promoting Expansion Pack High School Years showed a snippet of an old yearbook, featuring well-known characters in their teenage years alongside quotes from each one. Among them are Sims who will form three famous households: the Goths, the Pancakes, and the Landgraabs. While all the adolescent Sims are interesting, Nancy Landgraab stands out - or, more specifically, her nose does. Nancy is pictured with a significantly larger nose than the one she has as an adult Sims, confirming that the fan theory of her plastic surgery is true.
With such a wealthy background and Sims 4 personality traits like Snob and Materialistic, it makes a lot of sense that Nancy Landgraab would've have undergone at least one plastic surgery operation in her life. This nose job reveal helps make her characterization even stronger in The Sims, further cementing her shallow, superficial nature. While it's also been theorized by fans that Nancy has received other surgeries like lip injections, if those are canonical as well they aren't obvious from her yearbook photo. This nod by developers to a long-standing theory is incredibly hilarious, and a reminder of the recent ways Sims 4 developers have seemed more in touch with the game's community as a whole.
The Sims 4 did not get off to a great start this year, with the release of the extremely buggy Sims 4 My Wedding Stories Game Pack provoking large amounts of ire from fans and causing many to lose faith in the franchise altogether. However, since then there have been many signs that the Sims 4 developers are more tuned in with the game's players than they have been in years. Both small things, like an acknowledgement of how the menu's Ring Girl had become a meme, and large, like the depth of lore included in the recent Werewolves Game Pack, have been promising signs for many players that they're being heard. Although the actual quality of The Sims 4 High School Years isn't yet known, this hilarious Easter egg is an excellent nod to fans.
