The Sims franchise began in 2001 with The Sims. Almost twenty years later there are now three sequel games. As a simulation game, each title in the franchise has had expansion, stuff and game packs to allow more creativity.

The Sims 4 dropped in 2014 and currently has twenty-seven packs in total. Production for Sims 4 is expected to last until 2021. With the Sims 5 rumored, there’s a load of things fans want to see in the forthcoming game.

Updated February 5th, 2020 By Helen Ashcroft: We know that The Sims 4 is currently set to continue for the foreseeable future but that doesn't mean we can't look forward to the next reboot. There are still so many things that we want to see and we just can't help but think about them.

We've updated our wishlist to include things we miss that aren't in Sims 4 and we really hope will make a comeback to the franchise, those from the latest title which we really want to keep, and even some new ideas.

Realistic Clutter

/wordpress/wp-content/s/2019/04/Sims-4-Tiny-Living-Inception-e1580310360704.jpg

Clutter is getting better in the franchise but there's still something very odd about it all. Who actually arranges their plants into trios or keeps 3 random books in place with a huge bookend? We want to see more realism in those finishing touches to a home, without having to use cheats.

I need an empty mug or a random plate with biscuits on it and what about loose pens, rather than some neatly in a tub? There are all kinds of everyday clutter items that could really make a sims house a home.

Better Time Management

Are you fed up with having to get up 3 hours before work because it takes 30 minutes to pee and an hour to eat cereal? We are too and it's why we propose better time management.

It should not take 25 minutes to brush your teeth! We'd love to see short actions actually take a short amount of time and those longer ones? We'd like them to be realistic as well. We shouldn't go any further without the duration of actions in real-time bearing at least a ing resemblance to the same actions in Sims time.

Holidays

One addition we love is that of holidays, actual calendar events that can be scheduled and participated in. We'd love to keep this functionality in a new game.

Having your sims be able to celebrate a Christmas, Easter or Thanksgiving type holiday is great but the customization to add your own events, including birthdays, religious celebrations and utterly random events makes the game feel truly realistic.

10. Controlling Your Sim’s Manners

/wordpress/wp-content/s/2019/04/10-Controlling-Your-Sim---s-Manners-e1580298161878.jpg

The Sims games have always been about controlling the Sims and to give them lives. The one thing we have no control over are their manners without an expansion pack being installed. We propose the ability to control Sims’s manners in the Sims 5.

If this is introduced, this feature would be best-suited to be placed in the Create-A-Sim so we can choose their manners before they enter the game. Having them in Create-A-Sim would be like choosing personality traits.

Being Able To Choose Likes Or Dislikes

/wordpress/wp-content/s/2019/04/Sims-4-Uni-Clothing-choice-one-e1580310753558.jpg

While we are in create-a-sim we'd also like to be able to choose our Sims likes and dislikes. We miss the old turn on and turn offs, as well as the zodiac system. Anything that makes Sims more unique, is a great idea in our book.

Currently with just a few personality traits to choose from Sims can feel limited. Even simple things like a preference for a specific type of music of tv channel would help bring more life to our families as they argue about what to watch.

9. Controlling Babies

/wordpress/wp-content/s/2019/04/9-Controlling-Babies-e1580298183425.jpg

Nothing says difficult like raising a child in any Sims game. In the Sims 4, the babies need attention every two seconds and all the adults do is look after them. During the Sims 3, we could check their needs but not control them similar to older Sims.

With the Sims 5, life would be simpler if babies could be controlled. The adults could teach them to sit up, throw up, and other things regular people do.

8. More Swatches For Build Mode And Household Objects

/wordpress/wp-content/s/2019/04/8-More-Swatches-For-Build-Mode-And-Household-Objects-e1580298216783.jpeg

Swatches became a big thing in the Sims 3. People complained because there were too many choices. In the Sims 4, fans complained about too few choices. In the Sims 5, every item should have at least ten different patterns and/or colors for each item in the game.

To make it easier for the developers, they should consult the fans on what they want. A vote should be put on social media, like with Laundry Day Stuff, and fans can vote what patterns and colors they want. It would be better if they did groups of items or clothing with the same choice of colors.

Swatch Flexibility

While we are talking about swatches we'd also like more flexibility. Changing the swatch is great but what we really want is some of the items to have separate swatches like they used to.

Imagine beds where you can change the frame separately to the bedding, or artwork where the frame and image can be mixed and matched. It's a whole new (matching world) and we want it.

7. Larger Worlds

/wordpress/wp-content/s/2019/04/7-Larger-Worlds-e1580298249138.png

The shocker with the Sims 4 was the small worlds and new housing options. There are a few houses in each world while the rest are empty lots. The houses and community need to be created from scratch.

In previous games, the pre-created worlds where they had empty lots and houses of all price ranges. In the Sims 5, we want those larger worlds back so we don’t feel cramped. It would cool if we got more community lots along with the larger worlds as there aren't many unless you use all the expansion packs.

6. More Ways To Create Content In-Game

The Sims

Creativity in any Sims game is endless. Since the first game, fans have found unique ways to create new content. For the Sims 5, it would be cool if we could make content from the comfort of our main game, without having to use photoshop and third-party tools that could cause the game files to corrupt.

If the Custom Content creator isn’t in the game, there should be an official program by Maxis and EA.
