Michael B. Jordan and Ryan Coogler have reunited for Jordan and Coogler collaborated on numerous occasions prior to Sinners. Their first partnership was in Coogler's directorial feature film debut Fruitvale Station, in which Jordan played the leading role. He worked with Coogler again on Creed, Black Panther, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, with these films being among the most well-regarded in the actor and director's respective careers.

Given the critical acclaim and widespread popularity of their past projects, their reunion in Sinners has been highly anticipated. The anticipation has been further built by the secrecy surrounding the film as the plot and even most of the characters' names have remained under wraps, even after the first trailer was released. This makes the original vampire movie even more compelling leading up to its 2025 theatrical release, when Jordan and the rest of the cast will unveil the narrative they have brought to life.
