Simone (Milly Alcock) from the clutches of her boss, Michaela (Julianne Moore), the wife of millionaire Peter Kell (Kevin Bacon). However, Michaela turned out not to be the monster Devon thought she was in Sirens. In the end, Peter left the woman for Simone, who gladly stepped in as the next Mrs. Kell despite her friendship with Michaela.

In an interview with Variety, Fahy shared that she had been surprised that Simone ended up with Peter in Sirens' ending. However, after some thought, the actor decided that Simone's decision "feels realistic," considering the character's desperation not to return to her life in Buffalo. Fahy also discussed her thoughts on Devon's reaction to Simone's choice, noting the emotional moment when Devon said goodbye to Simone after she walked away. "That's her accepting the truth," Fahy said, "she might not know her anymore after this moment." See Fahy's full comment below:

I was so surprised to hear that Simone ends up with Peter, but the more I thought about it, the more I said, ‘You know what? This feels realistic to me. It makes sense to me that Simone would think, ‘There’s no way in hell am I going back to Buffalo. I will do anything that it takes to avoid that.’ It also felt true to me that Devon would go home. There’s a powerful moment when Devon says goodbye after Simone has already walked away, because that’s her accepting the truth, accepting that her sister doesn’t want to be home and isn’t going to go home, and she might not know her anymore after this moment, and just being at peace with that.

What Meghann Fahy's Comments Mean For Devon's Sirens Ending

The Sirens Actor Emphasizes The Series' Themes

Sirens Simone and Devon

The ending of Sirens was an intriguing twist, since neither Devon nor Simone ended up where they had initially intended at the beginning of the series. Simone was loyal to and loved Michaela, while Devon was determined to drag her sister home to Buffalo, even if she came kicking and screaming. However, the final episode of Sirens saw these sisters shift their focus. In Devon's case, this also meant embracing the sacrifices she made for her family while accepting that she couldn't control Simone's story. Further comments from Fahy emphasize this, as she observes that Devon went through significant development in Sirens:

“You see a huge evolution with her. And I do think that when she goes home, she won’t drink anymore. I don’t think she sees Ray [Josh Segarra] as Ray anymore. I like to think that she gets herself together a bit, and leaves with more self-respect than she arrived with. Even though she stays and ultimately is stuck taking care of Dad, she’s actively made her choice now, and there is power in that for her.”

Sirens is largely about the choices that people make as a result of their trauma and experiences, as well as the social consequences they face for those choices. Bacon's Peter made the most consistently poor and self-serving choices, but his consequences were minimal. Simone, on the other hand, will have a tough road ahead of her following her betrayal of Michaela. Devon made both good and bad choices in Sirens, but her final stance of acceptance should, as Fahy hypothesized, take her down a far better road than the one she started on.

Our Take On Meghann Fahy's Comments About Sirens' Ending

Simone & Devon's Ending Was Perfectly Fitting

Sirens' ending was a surprise, but Fahy's correct that it makes perfect sense from all angles. Simone wasn't a bad character, but her trauma led her to take desperate and selfish action. Then there is Fahy's Sirens character, who is wonderfully imperfect. I agree that Devon's future is far brighter after the events of Sirens. Accepting that Simone had to make her own mistakes was a necessary lesson and helped Devon fully own her previous and future choices. It was a powerful and emotional ending, and it's great to see that Fahy appreciated it as much as we did.
