Netflix's Sirens brings its characters to the beautiful world of the rich and powerful, and this required the use of some unique filming locations. The Real-World Harbor Community Was Used For The Kells' Neighborhood

The Kells live near a small island village in Sirens, where the people quietly gossip about the powerful millionaire couple and their rumored wrongdoings. The place has that small-town feel, outlined by the affluence that comes with such a quaint and well-maintained harbor community. Any scenes set in the village of this fictional island were filmed at Lloyde Harbor, New York, a place that perfectly fits the bill for the Kells' chosen home in Sirens.

Lloyde Harbor, New York, has a small population of only about 4,000 people, making it an ideal spot for filming the town scenes in Sirens. Despite its small size, the adorable beach community (only a couple of hours outside New York City) is lined with several million-dollar properties. Some of the notable people who have lived in these homes include Billy Joel, Angelina Jolie, and Jerry Seinfeld (via Homes). Lloyde Harbor is also where the Caumsett State Historic Park Preserve is located, the primary filming location for the Kells' home.

Netflix Used CGI To Turn This 100-Year-Old Country Club Into The Kells' Home

The Kells' mansion in Sirens doubles as a wildlife reserve. Michaela is especially ionate about the aviary, where she cares for raptors and other large birds before releasing them into the wild. Scenes at the Kells' home were filmed at the Caumsett State Historic Park Preserve, where the Caumsett estate was built in 1921. This mansion and ornate barn initially served as a country club and hunting preserve, but a century later, Caumsett became the primary filming location for Netflix's Sirens.

"Caumsett" is a Matinecock Indian word meaning "place by a sharp rock," which is quite fitting for Sirens, considering the eerie themes of sailors crashing to their deaths on the jagged stones.

The Caumsett barn was heavily doctored using CGI special effects to look like the modern mansion seen in Sirens, but the bones of the place (pictured on The Caumsett Foundation website) are still recognizable. Michaela's aviary was built temporarily on location, but the jagged cliffs of Caumsett were precisely as they needed to be to fit with Sirens' eerie themes.

The Mansion's Interior Was Filmed On Constructed Sets

While the Caumsett Preserve was used to film scenes set outside the Kells' home in Sirens, the indoor scenes were filmed predominantly at Steiner Studios in Brooklyn, New York. It was here that the sets for the inside of the lavish mansion were constructed, along with all the priceless paintings, statues, and sculptures collected by the Kells.

Finally, Steiner Studios is where the set for Peter Kell's lighthouse interior would have been constructed, with green screens and CGI doing the remaining work to bring Siren's various settings to life.

Brooklyn is also where the interior of the guesthouse, where Devon was reluctantly permitted to stay, would have been filmed, as well as smaller-scale exterior yard scenes. Finally, Steiner Studios is where the set for Peter Kell's lighthouse interior would have been constructed, with green screens and CGI doing the remaining work to bring Siren's various settings to life.
