Devon was concerned throughout The Netflix series revolved around two sisters as the older became increasingly desperate to get the younger out of the Kells' mysterious mansion. Simone worked as the personal assistant to millionaire philanthropist Michaela Kell, whom Devon began to suspect was a cult leader.
From the moment Devon arrived on the affluent island of Sirens, she noticed that Michaela and Simone shared an uncomfortable connection. Simone worshipped her boss, and the two not only shared gum and, from time to time, a bed, but Simone even went through tattoo removal and plastic surgery under Michaela's instruction. This influence made Devon uncomfortable, and she immediately feared that Simone was no longer taking her medication. When she found several seemingly unused prescription bottles in Sirens, Devon's fears were confirmed.

In Sirens episode 2, "Talons," Devon took a closer look at Simone's unused pill bottles. The prescription label read "Klonopin," which, according to the National Alliance on Mental Illness, is a type of benzodiazepine typically prescribed to treat anxiety over short periods of time. Klonopin use comes with a higher risk of addiction, so it isn't typically meant to be taken for longer periods, though there are sometimes exceptions. Simone's bottle in Sirens came with the instruction of "Take one capsule by mouth as needed," so this lines up with the medication's intended use.

The Klonopin wasn't the only medication in Simone's bag in Sirens. There was a rather sizeable collection of prescription pill bottles, but their labels were never shown. Still, it's evident from this scene that Simone is no longer taking any of them, despite the fact that she assured Devon that she still was. Devon seemed concerned that Simone not taking her medicine would lead to complete disaster. Precisely why Simone needed to take so many different medications for anxiety remained a mystery for much of Sirens. However, the full story is eventually revealed.

It's eventually revealed in Sirens that Simone has Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, resulting from her childhood. When Simone was seven, her mother ran a hose from the exhaust pipe to the cab while she and Simone were inside. Mrs. DeWitt ed away, and Simone fell unconscious, but Devon appeared and saved her little sister just in time. It was a terrible and traumatic experience for both sisters, but it wasn't the end of their misfortune.

After Devon went away to college, Simone was left with their father, Bruce, who began to neglect the girl. Eventually, Simone was removed from the home by Child Protective Services and placed in foster care, where she continued to endure abuse. It wasn't until Devon dropped out of college and got custody of Simone that the young girl's life stabilized, but she suffered from terrible panic attacks and sporadic moods going all the way into adulthood. After fully understanding Simone's past, it's understandable that Devon would be so worried about her little sister. She likely saw the younger girl have several panic attacks, and these would have been terrible to witness, especially as a caregiver. Additionally, we see in Sirens' ending that Simone had the potential to completely shut down and disconnect from the world around her. Still, at such a young age, Simone had figured out how to manage her anxiety and was taken off her meds with her doctor's approval. Of course, after a marriage to Peter in Sirens, that may change.
