Kody Brown's polygamous relationships continue to unravel on Sister Wives, and the patriarch deserves to lose all of his wives. Over ten years ago, Sister Wives viewers first learned about the Brown family and their polygamous lifestyle and saw relationships between Kody, Meri, Janelle, Christine, and Robyn Brown redefined in many ways. But, through those years, the bonds have continued to break down and revealed Kody to struggle with marriage, whether plural or monogamous.
Kody had often been a favorite villain of the show's fans. On Sister Wives season 17, he seemed to have taken it to a new level. With only one wife Robyn left, he's shown himself inept in each marriage because of his outlook on relationships. This outlook is also one reason why many viewers have dragged Kody on Sister Wives for a poor attitude for many years.
Kody Brown Has Failed As A Husband
There are many reasons viewers lack confidence in Kody's ability to be a husband, but three stand out: his selfish outlook on marriage, his disrespect of the individual wives, and his pitting the wives against each other. Unfortunately, these character faults are still present in his remaining marriage with Robyn, suggesting that he doesn't deserve to be married to anyone. Kody had shown regret in a series of Cameo videos, including when he itted that he had a "few failures here and there" in his marriages. However, this realization hasn't led to a significant change in behavior to prevent the break-up of his family. Kody's continued bad behavior makes him deserve to lose all his wives.
Kody Brown Has Shown Selfish Behavior
Kody's selfish behavior was a significant reason for his inability to have successful marriages. There are many clues as to why Kody Brown is a selfish person. On Sister Wives season 17, viewers saw when his adhering to his COVID rules prevented him from visiting with his children, but then he went cross-country to officiate a marriage to a friend. Before that, he refused to travel with his and Christine's daughter Ysabel Brown to her while she had major back surgery.
The plural marriage structure allowed Kody to be selfish throughout his twenty years, and used the marriages as an excuse as to why he couldn't tend to the needs of his wives. He always had the cover of taking care of one wife rather than another. For example, Kody chose to go on an extended honeymoon with Robyn, rather than keep Christine company after giving birth.
Kody Brown Is Disrespectful To His Four Wives
Kody's selfishness could be said to contribute to another reason why he doesn't deserve to be married; his disrespect for his four wives. All the manipulative things Kody has said on Sister Wives revealed the different ways he disrespects his wives. For example, in the most recent season, he continued to guilt-trip all the wives, claiming that they were not being loyal. In particular, Kody said Christine and Janelle choosing to spend time with their children was evidence of disloyalty. However, even Meri, who pined for Kody, noted that she would have done the same thing in their shoes.
Kody Brown Pitted The Wives Against Each Other
Another reason Kody deserves to lose all his wives was how he continually pitted the wives against each other. Even in the early days of their marriage, he used the tension between the wives to his advantage. But this season, comparing Meri to Christine and Robyn to Janelle appeared to be one of the last straws in his fractured marriages. As Christine pointed out, these comparisons showed Kody played favorites on Sister Wives with his four wives. It was even more disrespectful that those favorites changed depending on what served his selfish purposes best.
Whether Kody loses his last wife Robyn moving forward, it's hard to believe that his selfishness and disrespectful behavior won't continue. If Kody's behavior does not change, there are few reasons why he deserves to be married to anyone. The question is whether any other woman will sign up to be a "sister wife" on a future season of Sister Wives.
