Using virtual reality equipment and a few mods, one Elden Ring messages to Skyrim, and tweaking the title's physics system can even recreate a classic sport.
Skyrim has received immense praise for its character progression and world design, which both allow players to immerse themselves in the game's frozen fantasy region. However, at launch many technical issues were criticized, and Skyrim's physics engine in particular is known for being quirky and often immersion-breaking. For example, players who are attacked by giants will often find themselves launched high into the sky rather than simply being crushed. Post-launch updates and mods have taken strides to improve these issues, however, and virtual reality can turn Skyrim into a truly immersive adventure. Players can now pet Skyrim dogs in VR thanks to the PLANCK physics mod, which lets players physically affect non-player characters with their in-game arms.
Through the use of VR and some physics mods, Reddit CaliWuv recently played golf in Skyrim using a paddle and a corpse. Both available on Nexus Mods, the VRIK from prog0111 gives the player character a physical in-game body while the HIGGS mod by FlyingParticle lets this body directly interact with the world around it. Combining these two mods in VR lets CaliWuv wield and realistically swing a paddle, which they use to smack an NPC corpse and send it flying far into the distance like a golf ball. While it's unclear whether CaliWuv hit below par, the video is nonetheless a hilarious demonstration of Skyrim's bizarre physics.
Over the years fans have created countless Skyrim mods, yet unique creations continue to appear on a regular basis. The recently-revealed Burger Jarl mod for Skyrim, for example, adds a fast food t for hungry adventurers on the go. Located between Whiterun and Rorikstead, Burger Jarl combines the iconography of Burger King and McDonalds while offering a classic menu of fast food cuisine. It may not be the healthiest option, but Burger Jarl is certainly fast and reliable.
While Skyrim is already a robust experience, mods let the game fulfill a number of wildly unique and hilarious purposes. If gamers grow weary from fighting draugr and exploring ancient ruins, using VRIK and HIGGS can let VR s engage in a relaxing game of golf instead. With NPCs used as the ball, many fans will likely jump at the opportunity to get a hole-in-one with Nazeem off the highest peak in Whiterun.
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is available on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch and PC.
