While in the middle of a quest in Skyrim, a Reddit recorded their wife's reaction to a glitch that caused her character's follower to be launched into the clouds. Seeing a follower trampolined by unseen forces is a sight that will not be unfamiliar to seasoned players of the action-fantasy RPG title from Bethesda. As evidenced from the video and the reactions in the comments, glitches like this tend to bring out delight in players rather than frustration.
Released in 2011, Skyrim has survived two console generations and remains a beloved title in the gaming community, even amongst those who encounter the game's many infamous glitches. It is because of unexpected and amusing moments like this that players continue to document their adventures with fellow fans, some of whom may relate to having a Skyrim follower who hurts more than they help.
Reddit Skyrim player's character slain by their own child. These bugs go to show longtime fans that this Elder Scrolls title still has some bizarre moments up its sleeve, and will likely be providing more for years to come.
As hilariously disastrous as this could have been to the character, veteran Skyrim players know worse things can happen. The original release saw the PS3 version criticized for poor performance that sometimes went beyond charming slipups and into game-breaking territory. Being one-hit-killed by the game's giants is negligible when compared to the game freezing during pivotal moments, or after hours of exploration without saving. Issues such as that have, fortunately, become less common as the massive game has found more comfortable homes on newer generation consoles and PCs, even functioning on the Nintendo Switch. Soon the game will also appear on current-gen consoles with Skyrim Anniversary Edition.
One wonders if the next installment, The Elder Scrolls 6, will contain as many laughs and technical oddities as the legendary series has provided throughout many gamers' lives. The series is now 27 years old, with Skyrim soon celebrating its tenth anniversary on November 11th. Until the 6th game reaches shelves, gamers will have their hands full with the Anniversary Edition, available for PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC.
