Slow Horses season 5 is expected to release this year, with season 6 also confirmed.

During a recent interview with Extra TV at the 2025 Golden Globes, Oldman reveals that filming on Slow Horses season 6 is already underway. “This is Adam Randall who directed season 4 and is directing season 6, which we're all going back to tomorrow," the actor said. After the interviewer expresses confusion regarding the status of season 6 given season 5's lack of release date, Oldman clarifies: “5 is coming out and then we’re in the middle of 6.”

When Seasons 5 & 6 Could Release

Slow Horses very consistently earns glowing reviews from critics. Season 4, for example, currently sits at 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, and no other season is lower than 95%. Clearly, the show is also a viewership success for Apple, as evidenced by the fact that it has continually been renewed for additional seasons before the one is even released.

Though it doesn't yet have a release date, season 5, which will pick up after the tragic Slow Horses season 4 finale, will likely follow the pattern set by earlier seasons and release on Apple TV+ later this year. Season 6, likewise, will probably release in the second half of 2026. So far, Slow Horses hasn't been renewed for season 7, but there are eight books in Herron's series and a ninth is on the way, meaning it's entirely possible that there are a few more years' worth of the show still to come.

Season 6 is expected to adapt the sixth and the seventh books in Herron's series, Joe Country and Slough House, respectively.

Keep The Apple TV+ Show Coming

A show can sometimes struggle when it extends past season 4 or season 5, but all the signs so far suggest there's still plenty of life left in Slow Horses. Oldman, for his part, is clearly having a great time playing Lamb, and he's previously expressed interest in continuing to play the character for as long as Apple keeps renewing the show. If reviews and viewership remain strong for season 5, there's no reason to believe audiences won't see the Slow Horses cast back for season 7.

What's more, Slow Horses is refreshing in today's TV landscape because it has consistently released a new season every year. Granted, the seasons only consist of 6 episodes each, but in an age where it's not uncommon to see breaks of two or three years between seasons, Slow Horses continues to reliably entertain on an annual basis.
