One of the most beloved moments between Superman and Lois Lane from the Smallville show was one of the iterations that got to reinvent their history in live-action. By having Lois enter Clark's life at a much earlier point before he became Superman, Smallville was given the chance to explore their dynamic in a refreshing way.
The Smallville cast continues to celebrate the show's legacy at fan conventions, and one of the big moments from season 10 got a focus at this year's Comic Con Revolution (via @Flannel_CloisFans & @smallvillefans13.) Since they had a photo op together, Durance and Welling recreated Lois and Clark's wedding pose, with a side-by-side comparison (via @Cloismagic) from the actual episode to their moment at the convention. Check it out below:
In the Smallville series finale, which had episodes 21 and 22 air back-to-back as a two-hour event on May 13, 2011, Lois and Clark attempt to go through with the wedding. However, the wedding ceremony gets interrupted by Chloe Sullivan when she stops a Darkseid-influenced Oliver Queen from giving Lois a wedding ring made out of Gold Kryptonite, which would have permanently removed Clark's powers.
What Tom Welling & Erica Durance's Superman & Lois Recreation Mean For Smallville's Legacy
Proof Of Their Lasting Impact On The DC Community
Even though Smallville began with Clark being in love with Lana Lang, anyone who knows the Superman canon is aware that Lois will always be the one for him, which was one of the best arcs that the series got to explore for several seasons. After the many iterations that came before, Smallville was allowed to play with viewers' expectations by having them start out as bickering friends before eventually becoming colleagues at The Daily Planet, which is where the romantic seeds really began to take shape. Welling and Durance's powerful chemistry as Clark and Lois is why it worked so well on Smallville.

I Can’t Get Over How Many Smallville Actors Would Still Be Perfect For DC Hero Roles Now
The Smallville cast are repeatedly suggested for DCU roles, and so many of them would be absolutely perfect for a further superhero role in the DCU.
That is why, to this day, it means so much when Durance and Welling attend these conventions where they get to honor their Smallville legacy, including recreating their characters' wedding scene. It is also a testament to the impact that Smallville's Lois and Clark have had on the DC community, especially since the show continues to find a new audience through home media and streaming. Had Smallville rushed its development of Lois and Clark's love story, that legacy they have may not have existed.
Our Take On Tom Welling & Erica Durance's Superman & Lois 2025 Moment
A Sweet Reminder Of Why Their Versions Need To Come Back
Seeing Durance and Welling recreating some of their best scenes from Smallville at conventions is incredibly lovely, while also making a good case for why their versions of Lois and Clark need to come back in one way or another. That is why, if the Smallville animated sequel show ever moves forward, Welling and Durance can get a proper chance to explore their characters as a married couple after the show's original ending. Hopefully, whether it's in the near future or years from now, Smallville will come back in some shape or form.
