There are so many blockbuster characters that could Kingdom Hearts is long overdue for an appearance. There's no question that Nintendo has built an incredibly valuable platform for marketing (and legitimizing) video game icons through its crossover fight franchise. Beloved characters like Metal Gear Solid's Snake and Final Fantasy 7's Cloud Strife can clash with Sonic the Hedgehog and Mega Man.
It's a very rare platform within the industry, but it's one that only becomes more impressive with every major newcomer added to Smash Bros Ultimate's ranks. Of course, several companies have evaded Nintendo's grasp thus far – many of which are likely by the choice of Nintendo itself – but one stands out as a major want from the Smash Bros community. That is Disney and the company's Keyblade-wielding Sora.
Contrary to popular belief, Sora isn't actually owned by the company that develops his games, Square Enix. Kingdom Hearts and its original characters are all the property of Disney, which means Nintendo has to strike a deal with the House of Mouse in order to get the character into Smash Bros Ultimate. While this seemingly makes things much more complex, this isn't really a major problem. A Mickey Mouse-branded Nintendo Switch console has already released in Japan, while the two also collaborated on the Switch-exclusive Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order.
It also sounds as if Nintendo has previously expressed interest in Min Min from ARMS as the next Smash Ultimate character prior to her announcement. Evidently, he's not one to shy away from teasing insider information.
Even if these discussions did happen some time ago, Imran believes that either Sora or Smash Ultimate's Fighters Vol. 2 as a massive addition to the fray. Only time will tell, but there's no question that the Kingdom Hearts mainstay would be a blockbuster addition.
Super Smash Bros Ultimate is currently available exclusively on Nintendo Switch. It is currently scheduled to receive five more DLC characters as part of the game's Fighters Vol 2 which will end in December 2021.
