The Smile Entity and the horrifying events it unleashes are back in Smile 2, and it brings a whole new cast and a familiar face from the first movie. The horror genre has seen some big surprises in recent years from original movies among a wave of sequels, remakes, adaptations, and reboots. One of 2022’s biggest horror surprises was Smile, written and directed by Parker Finn and based on his 2020 short film Laura Hasn’t Slept. Smile was a critical and commercial success, making way for a sequel to expand the mysteries of the Smile Entity.
Smile’s ending saw Rose succumbing to the curse and ing it to Joel, and though this is addressed in Smile 2, the sequel centers on a new story. Smile 2 follows a famous pop star who witnesses a suicide caused by the Smile Entity. Now carrying the curse, she begins to experience increasingly disturbing and haunting events while preparing for a world tour. On top of that, this forces her to face her dark past and regain control of her life before it’s too late. Smile 2 has a completely new cast, but also one actor from the first movie.
